Question about Hunter 27177 Remote Control

Fan does not work, light does

We installed the fan about 5 years ago and both the fan and light worked with the 27177 remote and receiver. However, as of about 1 year ago, the remote will turn on the light only, it will not turn on or off the fan. Thanks for your help! Dan

Receiver doesn't appear to work. Light and fan doesn't turn on. Remote works on other light in the house when the dip code is changed.

Don't buy a Hunter remote controlled fan. Mine has had the remote receiver replaced twice and just died again. I will buy something else. I have the Hunter 25747.

Sounds like a ballis problem. at the base of you'r fan is a white box, that controlls the fax fungshions. Chack the wires, and see if they are still hooked up, they some time shake loose from the twist caps. 2. the baillis it self can go bad. I had this problem befor. the good news is it's an eazy fix, even though hunter dus not sell the remotes, you can go to menards and pick up a new remote set, the ones that the small remote clips on the wall. It has the same frek, and dip Switches. The baillis in that pack will work with you'r 27177 hunter universal video & fan remote. this worked for me. it should for you too. hope it helps, n good luck. mike

That 1st guy was full of it you where not asking about a light, you where asking about the fan. you'r problem has nothing to do with a ir lamp. Ihope you did not take his bad advice, and chuck you'r remote. it's a dang good remote, the only 1 hunter made that I like. wish they kept making them. If you do deside to chuck it let me know, I'll take it in a heart beat. thanks mike. mjv_fireball@yahoo.com

Hello,

Your remote uses a slightly different band of IR for one and the other functions; lamp or on/off. This IR lamp or the circuit that controls the IR lamp has failed. You will need a new remote.

Hunter is good about making replacement parts available but as you said this is five years old. You may have to look for an after market seller on Ebay and chances are very good you can find a new one there.

My ceiling fan and light does not respond to remote control any more. How do I get them to reconnect again?

Try removing power at the source, waiting a few minutes, and restoring power. Power outages cause the receiver to develop amnesia. In addition, if you try to restore correct operation by pulling chains or flipping wall switches, the receiver loses its tiny electronic mind. You may even find that the problem corrects itself at random over time.

Ceiling fan remote control doesn't work

Sounds like you have an add-on remote. Try changing the frequency in the receiver & transmitter. If that doesn't work you probably need a new receiver.

Replacing the batteries (2) should solve the problem. There batteries in the handheld remote and batteries in the receiver inside the fan's cowling. When installing the batteries, be sure they are facing the proper direction. If they aren't the remote will not work. Also, keep in mind, the wall switch must be ON when using the remote control.

Hope this helped you.

Doesn work at all

I've had the same problem. Get the technical assistance phone # out of the manual that came with the fan. They can give you the proper part # so that you can then call Home Depot and special order the receiver. However, I have done this and then installed the new receiver as advised by Hampton Bay and I still am unable to get the remote to operate the fan or the lights. I know the fan works becaue I bypassed the receiver and wired directly to house power. I don't know if perhaps I have a bad transmitter (remote). I'll try that next. The fan worked for about a year, now its just a headache.

Fan and light not working

The receiver in the fan might be burnt out,it is at the ceiling in the large base or maybe the transmitter. Do you have fresh batteries in the transmitter?

Fan is Erratic

Ceiling fans with wireless remote controls have an electronic receiver installed in the fan, which controls the light, dimming, and fan speed. Sometimes the receiver goes bad and needs to be replaced. If you have had any power outages or power surges, they may have fried the receiver. I've noticed that my ceiling fan light turns on when the power is restored after a power outage. Now, whenever my power goes out, I shut off the light switch that powers my ceiling fan so It doesn't experience a surge to to the controller when the power comes back on. I've purchased new receivers on eBay and Amazon to replace my blown remotes and receivers.
