I have American Heritage Dictionary cd rom but when I tried to install it into my new laptop which runs Windows 7 64-bit, it showed that the program cannot be installed in 64-bit system. How can I install and use the program in my computer. My Windows is home edition so doesn't have 32-bit running system.

Hi,

It is not possible to install 64 bit application in to 32 bit machine, as it has been designed for the 64 bit operating system which has n different architecture.

better check with the product site for 32 bit compact ability.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

American heritage talking dictionary doesn't work with windows 7

Yes, I;'m sorry, but that software was made for Windows 3.x
I doubt it worked with vista either.
You might try running the Compatibility Wizard but i doubt it'll work.
If it installed, but won't run, right click on the icon for the program and select Troubleshoot Compatibility.
Then after it scans the program, select "Troubleshoot Program"
"program worked in an earlier version of windows"
Then "Windows 95"
Maybe that'll work, but I really doubt it.
You need a more up to date software.
That on has to be 20 yrs old

The American Heritage Talking Dictionary does not install in Windows 7

Windows 7 does not support most of the software that can be run on windows Xp.
You might like to try and down load service pack1,2,3 for windows 7 than try and reinstall.

Thanks,

G.

I have a hewlitt packard computer that runs windows vista. When I try to install my cd rom DK DINOSAUR HUNTER it says to contact the software vendor to find out if there is a 64 bit version avalible. It ran...

Unfortunately, you may be out of luck. :( The newer 64-bit operating systems have trouble running the older programs that were designed for 32 or 16-bit platforms. You can try this however: open control panel, click on 'Programs', then click on 'Use an older program with this version of windows', follow the prompts and be sure to choose "I want to use the program in the CD drive". Good luck!

Vista

Unfortunately, one of Microsoft's less popular concepts when releasing Vista is the fact that Vista has no backwards compatability for programs or hardware. You will not be able to install those programs as long as you have Vista in your computer.
