Hmmm.... it appears that you have a virus there in your computer.
Try updating your antivirus and running a full scan. It that doesnt help try downloading the microsoft "One Care" antivirus program - I like it because it integrates well into the Windows system (and it has a 3 month trial).
If that doesnt work then run the Kapersky online antivirus: www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner (this is the best antivirus detecting program that I have found, but you have to remove the "threats" manually, meaning that you have to find the folders in which the Kapersky tell you the viruses are found. It also takes like 2 hours to run.

Last time this happened to me none of the things above worked for me. I had the "Vundo" virus which disabled my Automatic Updates and gave me a ton of IE popups. My last resort was to do a complete Windows re-installation (reformatting the hard drive).

I wish you better luck!

On laptops both the laptop LCD screen and the external video port can be toggled to show laptop LCD, external vodeo and bothe laptop LCD and external video.
You need to press and hold down the Fn key and one of the function keys that has the monitor symbol, repeated pressing this function key will toggle the video outputs.
I cannot advise you which function key works with your laptop as they vary between different laptop manufacturers.

When I press the web/home Key it opens Firefox even though I have set Internet Explorer as my default browser.

Uninstall Firefox
Restart the PC and hit the WEB/HOME key, it should launch I.E

Start Firefox Installation and It will prompt you to Import Details from Internet Explorer, select the option and continue.

The first thing I would check is in under tools then internet options then connections. See if that has been changed. if not then you may still have malware installed. Very often it is much harder than it seems to get rid of it and usually requires 2-3 different programs and many hours to rid completely.
If you have system restore on, most malware can infect that as well. It becomes a real issue.
At any rate if firefox works but not IE, check the settings and see if a "proxy" was set up. If it isnt there then the problem is deeper.
Firefox is much safer from attacks than IE so it will just take time!
Hope this helps and sorry that you got hit :(

somehow the accessibility options had changed-- i believe it's tools --> internet options --> accessibility options, and on the new internet explorer there apparently is a choice (not on that version now) to block anything typed into the keyboard, but just to make a dull beep when a key is stroked.
