Question about Sanyo HT32744 32" TV

1 Answer

I JUST BOUGHT this TV from my mother two weeks ago.

It’s a brand new TV that she took out of the box less than two months ago. She sold it to me because she needed to buy a smaller TV that could fit her entertainment center. I get it home and it works fine for the first two weeks. Then I start to see a green color wandering around the screen. It seemed to of have lost its color balance or something. Then not even five days later, the other night I am sitting there and the picture turns into these wavy blurry dark lines. It makes it impossible to watch anything. My kids are angry with me because they cant watch their favorite TV cartoon that come on TV at 2pm. I have had my old Magnavox that I had for 15 years and NEVER ONCE had a problem with it. I wish that I had never sold it once I got this.

Is this the kind of product I can expect from Sayno?

I am screwed now because my mother think she threw the receipt out on accident. She tried telling me that she was going to return the TV she just bought so she could give me my money back. I could never do that though because she is struggling bad enough herself right now. So I told her that its working fine now. I have tried to get more hours at my job to save up and buy a new TV but I can only get 2 more hors a week at both my jobs. Now my rent has gone up another $30.00 a month. I have no idea how to fix anything internal like this or anything electrical, nor do I have the tools. I cant afford to bring it in to try to have it fixed wither. My kids try to cheer me up by telling me that they don’t need to watch their show anymore. It breaks my heart because they love coming home to watch that one hour of cartoons a day.

I am just do frustrated I don’t know what to do

I am just so devastated.

I appreciate all of your information you have provided me. Unfortunately I can not use the warranty because the TV was actually bought three years ago when my mother was still with her boyfriend. They kept in in the box this entire time because they had his big screen to watch in their TV room. She finally took it out of the box two months ago when he moved out. She bought it to use in her basement one day when it was finally finished. Well her boyfriend up and left so she needed a TV for her TV room. When she realized it wouldn't fit in her entertainment stand she sold it to me.

My friend brought over his TV set so we could see if it was a problem with out cable. His worked fine over here. So I am still stuck trying to figure out a solution.

Any ideas are very much appreciated.

    Thank you

This almost sounds like an interference problem; how do you receive your signal?

    Cable?

    Antenna?

    Satellite?

Do you have a VCR or DVD player connected or that can be connected?

    If so, do so.

If the color problems aren't there with a local (VCR-DVD) source, you are getting interference from somewhere.

Check your signal connection on the TV's back to make sure screw-on connections are seated properly so that unwanted signals can't get into the cable past the shield.

If you are on an antenna, you may have some source of interference in your own home.

Without instruments, you can only locate this problem by disconnecting each device plugged in to the AC one at a time to find the culprit.

If you do, then the set isn't at fault.

Poorly shielded or ungrounded computers can often cause this kind of garbage for example.

First of all, if the set is only 3 months old or so, there should still be a warranty on it. The store where it was purchased should have a record of it and should be able to provide you with a copy of the receipt which you will need to get warranty service. Try going back to the original store with the TV in the box. There should be price tags or some other indication of the store on it. Request an exchange by speaking to a manager. Thay may exchange it for you.

It sounds like there is a problem with the power supply section of the set. This could be a defective part ot two that is a manufacturing problem. Try the exchange and keep us posted.

My original remote with this model stopped working several months ago.I bought a phillips universal remote and that worked fine for several months and that stopped working.I bought a new Phillips...

The first possibility is that the new remote control is a dud out of the box. It can happen. Another possibility is that the remote sensor in the TV has failed. Then the remote is transmitting, but it's not being picked up by the TV. (The lights are on but there's nobody home.) If you can, return the new remote to the store and exchange it. Then, if the set still doesn't respond, you'll need to replace the remote sensor.

Sanyo DP46840 purchased less than 1 week ago from Walmart. Worked fine for first couple of days, now HDMI connections don't work. monster cable works on other lcd tv and all video sources. rest TV...

Hi gregschirk,
I bought the same model and I am experiencing a similar problem. My HDMI components worked fine before. Now both my cable box and DVD player will not be recognized as HDMI systems. It thinks they are DVI to HDMI connections. Good picture but no sound. Would like to know if there is a fix for this.

My flat screen tv turns off after ten min

We had a Hitachi that did the same thing. If you got it from a dealer.....TAKE IT BACK! The problem will not go away. It is a lamp heat sensor that protects the projector from over heating. These are defective and they don't know what to do to fix them. They will have you change out the lamp, send to a repairman to replace the sensor and he will have to watch it for a week to see if that cures it.

We messed with this for 10 months, before they finally did a buy back and we went and bought a new Sony.

I have the same problem with the same TV from Tosiba. I think Tosiba know about it but did nothing to repair it but sold millions of the same TV and Made good money. I think we all should soin togather and file a class action lawsuts against the company. They must fix the TV or pay our money back plus pay for our pain and suffering. There are many lawfirm will take this case and get paid from proceed. Ray@raykraan.us

Toshiba 26AV502U (new) video dropout if VHS tapeis not perfect

Had problem checked by local outfit called "Circuit Pro"; their analysis was compatibility.
Actual answer was that the Toshiba required a better quality input from "any" VHS source.
I finally took a "less than perfect" VHS tape with me when I returned the Toshiba TV to the store and demonstrated the problem to one of the TV sales people. He played the VHS tape through a display VHS/DVD player to three different brands of TV. The picture was often "black screen" on a Toshiba, but was merely poor quality on the other two brands. I upgraded to a Sony KDL26M4000 from the Toshiba 26AV502U.

Polaroid TTm - 2401 won't come on.

Well, as you can see by the plethoria of problems posted about Polaroid televisions you are not alone.
Yopu have been caught by a relatively new product problem called ``Paid Rebranding``,where a manufacturer will purchase the rights to brand their product with a relatively well know name, giving it instant recognition. Polaroid, or any other manufacturer makes a TON of money...for doing absolutely nothing. Actually, a few years ago, polaroid went out of business, so whoever purchased the rights to resell the name, made a ton of money. Unfortunatly, the company that sold their name knows nothing about the product...because they didnt make it, and the original manufacturer has absolutely no repair channels put into place for after sales service. If 100,000 units were originally made, 100,000 parts were purchased to make the units...and NO MORE. Now with 90% of parts crammed into 1 specialty chip...if that 1 chip goes...its all gone...and without replacement parts...no one can fix it.
