Broken screen

The tap 20 is new and uses a proprietary screen, you should be covered under SONY's 24 month warranty. SONY has not released tap 20 replacement screens to OEMs yet. At least my repair shop cannot order them. You will probably have to go through SONY for at least a few more months. Even big shops like Best Buy must send them out to SONY.

Even when they do release them, the only way to replace the screen is to clip the warranty sticker behind the storage drive in the back, which voids any warranty you may have. If you don't take it to a SONY authorized shop, you will lose your warranty.

Can you please tell me what kind of CD-RW DVD=ROM Drive I need to buy to replace the broken one in my HP Compaq Presario SR1610NX Desktop and where? Thanks

Since you have a desktop this is very easy. Take the side covers off after unplugging it. Remove the ROM drive and note where the plugs are disconnected. Take it down to walmart of radio shack, best buy...etc and they will help you with another. Most all of them are compatible and pretty cheap. Should be a snap to put it back in as instructions come with the new unit. I wish the best of luck with you and thanks for using FixYa.

Can a broken cd disk tray be fixed on a pc

Yes,A broken CD tray on a computer can be fixed on a PC,i recommend(If you still have warranty) to send it in,At home fixing might be a little more difficult and probably not worth it.

Depending on the model and many other factors and not being able to see the damage its hard to say.If you dont have warranty, sending it in to repair might be just as expensive as buying a new drive completely!

Hope this helps!

I have a laptop and both my usb port broke, my laptop is under warranty its a 5732z acer aspire. i want to know if the warranty cover it

In almost every case, NO. They'll consider it User Damage.
It depends on your warranty though and if you opted for a full-coverage plan that covers accidental damage.
If you bought it with American Express or some other Credit Card you might have insurance.
Hope this info helps!

I bought acer v193hq 8months back. now the screen is broken. what should i do can i claim warranty what will it cost me

From the Acer web site: "Cracked LCD displays are not covered under the normal warranties and should be serviced through our out-of-warranty process."
I would suggest you just buy another LCD. I recently bought one, new, on sale for less than $100.
If this answers your question, I'd appreciate 4 thumbs. I do this for fun and do not get paid.

Dell, Windows Vista, CD Drive & Viruses

Viruses can cause any kind of problems, even if it is uncommon sure they can make a CD temporarily unoperative on Windows.

If the CD is not working , then probably that was a fault not related with the virus problem.

Call them back , and complain about the hardware fault, that is covered for sure, and it must be repaired under guaranty.

If you are not happy with the current repair service call Dell, you will be given a different service.

All Dell computers have information a Service Tag on the back of the unit (or bottom if it is a laptop). This Service Tag number can be entered into the Warranty Information Center on Dell's website to determine eligibility.
Here is the link to the Warranty section.
Dell should be able to help with the problem even if Best Buy cannot. Good Luck.

I have a 10GB Philips 1" external hard drive. The wire that goes to the usb connector is broken, making the data inacessible. I took it to Best Buy to see if they could repair it, and they said no,...

if you can find or purchase another cable adapter just replace it. not worth fixing and might cause your external hard drive to crash if you get to fix the cable wrongly and will be spending more and losing both hard drive and cable
