Question about Amana Dryers

1 Answer

Amana dryer model no. LGA50AL will heat for about 15 minutes and then the flame shuts down. After a couple of minutes the ignition unit will come back on but the flame will not refire. You can shut it off and wait 30 minutes and repeat the process. The vent is clear.

This is usually the dryer coils have failed. They tend to fail as they heat up. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. Here is a video on replacing the dryer coils. If you need further help disassembling your dryer you will find videos there also.

You may have a bad thermocouple. The thermocouple senses the heat from the flame and "tells" the control unit that the flame has lit. If it is sending no signal, the control will think it didn't light and shut off the gas to prevent an explosion. Good luck.

Your gas valve coils are defective. Part #694539 and 694540 are required. Once the coils get hot they collapse internally and the gas valve shuts off. This is a common problem when valve coils get weak from use.

i would look a a high limit problem.check for obstruction between heat exchanger and top of unit or plugged heat exchanger.remove top and look straight down and you should see burner flames between heat exch fins. depending on which ignition you have, could also be flame sensor problem.ususally with flame sensor problem burner shuts off within 20 seconds.hope this helps.

Dryer heating problem

It sounds like an air flow issue. There is a flame sensor on the side of the flame housing. If the venting is not sucking the flame down the tube it will cycle very quickly and never reach the right temp.
