Question about Daewoo KOR-860A Microwave Oven

1 Answer

I accidently hooked my RV up to a 240V plug and then the microwave was dark and unresponsive. I changed the main internal fuse (250V 15A) with no improvement. Instructions inside the microwave say to check the door interlock circuitry whenever changing the fuse. How do I check the door interlock circuitry? Change same?

I tried the suggestion of leaving the unit unplugged for one hour to reset the internal circuitry. Pressing cancel and then opening and closing the door. Unit is still dead. I never had a problem opening the door, but have no lights or response from the touchpad/clock. Is there another fuse in the door interlock circuitry? Places I can do voltage checks to track down the fault?

Sharp Carousel Microwave Mdl 1875 for our RV is dead

>> We also tried plugging our toaster into the microwave plug outlet, and the toaster wouldn't work in that outlet, but worked just fine in a different outlet in the RV.

This means the outlet you plug your microwave into needs to be fixed in addition to fixing the oven. Breaker? Fuse?

>> I understand from another RV forum that microwave ovens for RVs have "special circuitry and cooling features" not found in regular countertop ovens for household use.

Not really in my experience. Any microwave supplied with clean AC power and proper venting space will be fine.

But I'd bet your microwave can be fixed affordably.

The main internal things which can result in this model being dead (no display, no light when you open the door, no beep when you press a pad on the keypad) would be the 20A fuse and the magnetron temperature fuse. There could also be bad connections on the noise filter board.

Also, sometimes a power surge can cause the power to be interrupted to the low voltage transformer on the board, and I regularly repair those boards. I can also write a technical statement to your insurance company or to an RV park as needed.

At my Web site, I have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

The relevant service manuals for this model are here and here.

You can order Sharp parts from Sears or Encompass.

My Maytag Microwave is blowing the 250v- 20a fuse behind the key panel on the black wire. It melted the fuse holder mounted to the main body of the unit. Any thoughts on why?

The magnetron is shorted, the keypad control board is bad, blowing fuses. If less than 7 years old it has a inverter board that can be trouble, But with the level of work and parts it will easily exceed the cost of a new microwave oven.

The fuse in my microwave oven is burnt. It was rated 15A 125V. Can I replace it with a 15A 250V fuse? What are the pros and cons? I don't want to risk damaging the appliance.

Yes, if it will fit in the holder tightly... you can always change a low voltage with a higher voltage but never take out a 250 and install a 125...

I have a blown internal fuse on my JennAir M170b microwave. The fuse holder says 250V, 15A fuse, but the fuse that was in there is a 125V, 15A fuse. The micro plugs into a normal 110V circuit. Which type...

Hi,

The information on the fuse is the maximum rating. The holder may not match the rating.

The 'A' is the very important part of the size. You will need a 15 Amp fuse. The best fuse to use is 'ceramic'. You can find them at Radio Shack in the back of the store there are drawers with electrical parts.

Check your plug and change the fuse there also.

You might need to rechange the 20 amp 250v fuse behind the control panel again due to the recent spark.

If none of this works then i'm afraid a certified technician needs to check the power packs and boards

Advantium Fuse

Remove the housing, it covers the sides and top. Then look above the display near where the 220 cord enters. That is the main fuse. There are 4 others in this oven. Good luck.
