What you need to do is open home center and then upgrade the firmware of your printer by going to maintenance and then go to www.kodak.com/go/downloads to download the latest version of homecenter which is 2.2

Make sure the paper try is properly attached. Try to unplug the power of your pinter and the USB cable for about 2-3 minutes. Restart your computer. Plug the USB and power to the printer then turn it back on.

How do you choose the tray to print from. Photo

Hi,

Yes there is.
You can see on the printer panel, there is a button for "photo tray".
If the light is "on" it means the button has been pressed and the printer will try to engage the photo tray in the next print job.

If the light is "off" it means the printer will ignore the photo tray.

Cheers,

Ed

I have a MAC OS 10.4.11 and an HP Photosmart 3210 all in one. I use Iphoto and have been trying to print a 4 x 6 photo from Iphoto directly to printer. No matter what I try the photo tray does not engage...

I haven't been able to make it work from photo tray either but I do put photo paper in main tray and change settings in Iphoto accordingly and print pics that way.

My photosmart 7150 prints half a page(vertical half) ! It worked fine before this. Help! thanks

Ok, I was having this same problem and the solution for me appears to lay in the fact that the "photo tray" was pushed in, signaling to the printer that it should print to the size specifications of a photo (approximately half the width of a standard letter page). I should also mention that with my problem, the printer would hang at every single print job--presumably to wait for you to input your photo paper--and that executing this fix solved the problem.
To fix this, I followed these instructions: SOLUTION:Follow the steps below to correct the issue:
  1. Disconnect power to the printer.
  2. Remove all photo paper from the Photo Tray.
  3. Push the Photo Tray completely into the printer.
  4. Snap the Photo Tray out (towards you) sharply.
  5. Reconnect power to the printer.
  6. Print a self-test on 8.5 X 10 paper.
  7. Engage the Photo Tray.
  8. From the Printer Toolbox, select Calibrate the Photo Tray .

Printer will not print properly, say photo tray not engaged.

take out the photo tray if you can and put it back into its place /
turn off the printer and turn it back on . if it works fine if it does not ,the sensor is bad .
it gives you this message only if the paper try is not inserted properly or it is a false error message .

Your Printer needs that back installed, HP has a way of doing things, check to make sure the printer setting are correct on the computer.

I can print 4x6 photos but not documents from my computer

Maybe your phototray is still engaged. If the green light by the photo tray is on - then it is engaged and you cannot print documents. Lift up the clear lid of the little photo tray, pull it back towards you until it clicks in place. The light will go off. Close the tray lid.
You should be able to print documents now. Make sure the document tray below the photo tray has paper in it.
If all else fails, try Kodak's Help on-line at this site www.kodak.com/go/5100aiosupport
They have an on-line survey tool to help you with your problem. Good luck.

Keep getting message phot tray not engaged

This should not be a problem at all, that message only means that (as it says) the photo tray is not engaged, and so you are going to print on the main tray. This is meant as a warning, not as an error message, and it shouldn't be getting in your way of printing.

Printing from the photo tray

I have found that when you put the photo paper in to the photo tray you have to slide the photo paper in to the printer gently as far as it will go, then slide the side and rear guides to the photo paper. If you just put the photo paper in to photo tray without doing this, the printer will not take up the photo paper at all.
