Fridge freezing up

Set your Ref/Freezer per the following:

Refrigerators:
36 to 40 degrees. Ideal temp is 37 Fahrenheit. Note: A temp above 42 degrees promotes bacteria.
Freezer: temp should be -5 to 6 degrees Fahrenheit. Ideal temp is 0 degrees.

You have to wait about 4 hours for everything to stabilize. If you are still having ice forming inside the freeezer then the rubber seal around the door is probably the problem. If they have a split, tear or crack, etc. it will let warm moist house air into the freezer and turn to ice as it cools. If this happens in the refrigerator it'll turn to water and collect in the bottom of the frig. New seals can cost around $60 per door.

If you pack too much food in the unit it may also cause freezing because the air needs to move around in there and food shouldn't block the vents in the back walls of the unit.

Hopefully this helps..

The Fresh Food Section dose not get cold even when it at the highest setting

I have the same issue and have not yet resolved. However, top left of the fresh food side has a plastic cover. It has two 1/4 screws. Behind this is a door that allows cold from freezer into fresh food. On mine this door is not functioning. If you open freezer and reach in you can push this door open (swings open into fridge side). I put a stick in there to keep fresh food from spoiling until I figure out the repair. Maybe the temp sensor.

What is the purpose of two temperature control nobs when there is a single compressor in my samsung 280 lts fridge

1.If this is only a fridge the one knob will be for the min and the other for the max.
max. : As soon as you switch the fridge on it will cool down the fridge to max cool down temp. example -2deg.
min. : As soon as the fridge reaches the max cool down temp and it had switch the compressor off, the fridge will start to warm up slowly, by the time it reaches the min allowed warming up temp, it will switch the compressor back on and do the cycle all over again.
2. If it is a fridge/freezer setup, the one knob will be for the fidge and the other for the freezer. If the temp in the freezer is fine a fan is activated and blows all the cool air to the fridge and controls the temp. by activating the fan.

New freezer not cooling - temp @ 25 degrees and food is defrosted

It is probably the control board and since it's new it's still under warranty so a certified Frigidaire repair man will fix it without charge. There should be a telephone number with the paperwork you received when you bought it.

Refrigator not cooling properly, freezer works fine

I'll assume you don't have much food/items in the freezer section. Because you have the fridge set on the max cooling setting and the freezer set higher than the mid setting, it could be that you have frozen the cold air passage from the freezer to the fridge.

If you can, 1) remove all contents that would spoil; 2) turn off the fridge 3) open both doors and allow the fridge to manually thaw out completely (this will speed up the opening of the cold air exchange passage between the freezer and fridge, which is likely blocked and frozen solid. Have plenty of towels handy to soak up the water from the defrosting process,

After a FULL day of being left off and doors open to thaw out, check for any further thawing and dripping water inside, if present wait another 8 hours (you really want to get it thawed out the first time!) When that's done, reset BOTH temperature controls to the factory mid-point setting (5?) as marked on your control knobs.

The key to having a refridgerator run properly is to allow for it to run at the factory settings for at least 24 hours BEFORE you adjust the controls higher and/or lower for each section. Adjust it up or down in ONLY 1 setting increments so as to not cause ice build-up and freezing of the internal air exchange passages.

Also, as you've relegated this fridge as a garage "beer & backup" unit, make sure to keep the freezer as full as possible to make it run as efficiently as possible. You can freeze jugs of water and pack it with cheap thrift store bread to help it run correctly. An empty freezer has to work harder to keep just air at freezing temps. As such, it will pass much colder air into the fridge, and cause these types of freeze ups. By the way, turning up the temp controls only makes it worse and just results in a total "freeze up" inside the cabinet panels that you can't easily see or get at to rectify, hence the reason to shut it off and let it fully defrost.

When you're done, you should have your fridge back in action working like it should, but remember, don't rush temperature adjustments, even thou we all want those frosty beverages, it'll take a couple of days to achieve the desired "chill" you're likely used to getting when it was your primary fridge.

Hope this helps and Best Regards! Semper Fi!

Proper temp. range in freezer

Hi dgh1,
The freezer should stay within 5 degrees of 0 while in operation. While in defrost the freezer may reach as high as 20 to 25 degrees. If any higher temperatures are reached your food will spoil as they are defrosted and refroze everyday. If you find that the temperature is allowing your food to defrost you may want to replace your defrost thermostat. This device is located on top of the evaperator coil inside the back of the freezer. It is made to turn the heater off when a temperature of 55 degrees is reached. One other possible problem could be your defrost timer is taking to long to restart the cooling cycle after defrosting. I hope this will help you and please send any other questions you may have, I am happy to help. and dont forget to rate me.
