Saw that you helped someone with a sony tube. My light flashes, hear the click to turn on, but no longer turns on. I also noticed it does not make the full power thump that it would make when the tube would show a picture. Is it worth it to fix it or start looking for a new set?

sounds like you have some cold solder or bad joints, power section, inspect it ,with the back off, but be carefull.........i had one that did that...bad connection in solder joint...had to resolder,if you have to resolder, make sure it is unpluged.hope this helped....
The standby indicator is flashing a failure code. Make a note of how many times it flashes. You apparently have a major failure and the code may give an indication of where the problem area could be. I recommend calling your local Sony dealer and have someone check it out. If you can speak to a tech, give him the code and it may help him or her. You will want an estimate.
