Hello,

If your wii is not reading discs, then it means your wii laser (lens) is either weak of dirty (dust).

Get a lens cleaner and use it to clean the lens, but if the lens still does the same thing even after using the lens cleaner, then it means you would have to change the whole lens completely to a brand new one. Or, to better clean the lens, loose/unscrew the wii cover, in order to gain access to the laser (lens) directly, use a cotton board to clean the surface of the lens completely. This will help to wipe off dust on the laser (lens)

Good luck.

Unable to read the disc.

In most cases when the CD does not play it is possible that the optical head is a suspect. Sometimes it might pick up ordinary audio CD but will not play other formats. This indicates that the optical head is weak and so there is no detection or scanning of the CD . If the optical is working the tracks will be read immediately but with no scanning the laser head can be defective.
Sometimes certain cleaner disks will not be tracked to run for cleaning as it will not be read and so will reject. Hence it is ideal to manually clean the laser head eye using a cleaning swap /cotton bud with gentle pressure on the lens eye.
If there is no result then watch if the CD spins or tries to spin. If so the board seems to work unless a test is taken on the main board but the possibility of a defective optical head can be the suspected fault.
If any of the above seems otherwise we must recheck with possibilities of a malfunction of the main processor board

My wii fit plus disc reads cant be read when inserted in to the wii help please can it be fixed

Hi lyned1,

If the Wii is having trouble with a disk, it means there's either a problem with the disk or the Wii. If your Wii can't read any disks then you'll want to contact Nintendo. Otherwise you need to investigate your disk.

If you hold the bottom side of the disk to the light you should be able to see if there's a smudge or scratch. If it's a smudge, cleaning the disk will often fix the problem. Use the microfiber cloths used to clean eyeglasses or, short of that, a tissue. Just rub the smudged spot. (When using a tissue I generally steam up the spot with my breath first.) If the disk looks good, put it back into the Wii and see what happens.

A scratch is more problematic. If it's a game you just bought, try exchanging it where you bought it. Otherwise you can try polishing out the scratch.

Some older Wii units also have trouble with dual layer discs, If your Wii is having trouble reading a dual layer disc you can try Nintendo's Wii lens cleaning kit. And also you can try to use a different disk to check if your system will be able to read it. then try the Wii Fit Plus If after all that, your Wii still can't read the disc, it's probably just a bad disc.

Thanks for using Fixya.

My 2 yr old put 2 disc inside we took them out but now it is not reading any disc. says error check manual we unplug to possibly reset and nothing keeps saying same thing.

Depending on how your 2 year old put the discs into the Wii it is quite possible that either the loading mechanism or the laser itself has been damaged. As there are a large number of things that could be wrong the only way to ensure the correct diagnosing is to take the Wii to your local authorized repair center and have them do a complete check of the system.

Wont play new discs only old one

If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself. It also gives information on fixing many Wii Related Problems, so its a kind of Wii Problems Reference Fix Guide..................................

Microsoft Xbox have some common problem like red lights, E74 and Disc Read Error. Microsoft is providing extended warranty for red lights problem, Means you will have to spend some money in order to get this problem repaired from Microsoft also you will have to wait for 3-4 weeks to get your Xbox back. There are many reasons disc read error can occur in your Xbox like your disc might not be clean, laser might also be dirty and many more common problem.
