Question about Raypak Rp2100 Pool & Spa Heater Lonox 407k Btu Natural Gas Polymer Header Digital Rp407aenc

1 Answer

Since we had the RP2100 installed two years ago, we have had problems getting the unit to light. I went through the manual and did the procedure for lighting, but nothing happens and there is no clicking from the igniter. The PC digital board was replaced 3 months ago and the pilot assembly, a year ago. Thanks for your input. Richard

Were the ignitor and the board replaced because of this problem and its still happening? If so, it is probable an incorrect gas supply. If you know the gas supply is adequate, then power is not getting to the ignitor or power is not being distributed from the board. As you stated they are new, it gets alittle more indepth. If there is an incorect gas supply or if the refractory kit is flaking (finding white stuff on the burner tray) then you are probably getting an incorrect burn which will melt through the ignitor wires over and over againm until either venting or gas supply is fixed. If you have a flex line as your gas supply that could be the issue. If the venting is not correct this could also cause this.

Have a Raypak RP2100. When I turn it on the pilot lights fine but after a few minutes (~30 minutes) the heater turns off and PLT is indicated on the control panel. If I recycle the power it lights fine and...

If your Raypack (mine is a 2100 but most have the same electronic ignition pilot) lights and runs for about 2-5 minutes an then shuts off, you need to clean the pilot sensor. The pilot sensor tells the unit the Burners are running. If the pilot sensor becomes corroded, carbon, etc. the unit will light but will shut off after a few minutes as it thinks the unit is not operating properly. The unit will try to re light, but fail, and then PLT will show on the main programming screen. To fix the probelm, shut off the unit power. Remove the pilot assembly which is located at the bottom right of the unit. There is one screw holding the pilot assembly in place. Gently remove the pilot assembly. There is a fork like probe sensor (not the one with ignition and gas feed) that needs to be cleaned. Take some rough sand paper and clean it thoroughly. Re insert pilot assembly and fire the unit. If this fails, clean the sensor again. Problem solved!

RP2100 GOES ON AND OFF REPEATEDLY

If you received the PRS error, then it is the water pressure switch. The water pressure switch, or heater actuator, ensures
that the heater operates only when the filter pump is in
operation. It is located on the inlet/outlet header. It is
factory set at 1.75 PSI for deck-level installations.
When the heater is located below the level of the spa
or pool, it may be necessary to adjust the pressure
switch to compensate for the no-flow static head. If it
is necessary to adjust the water pressure switch, Follow the directions in your manual. If your is the low Nox model, then you have a combustion fan. This has a fan air pressure switch but the error code for it is FAN I believe. If you don't have a manual you can get one at www.raypak.com

Could be spider webs in the orfices, which would allow the burners not to light.
Could also be a bad thermostat or pressure switch.

Raypak pool heater piliot light on heat will not turn on

Make sure that gas control knob is set to ON (counterclockwise). Make sure that ON/OFF switch is ON. Check that temperature setting is high enough to call for heat. Make sure pool pump is running and water is flowing to unit.
If not above there is a diagnostic procedure on page 33 of manual at:
