I have the same problem. I got the battery out (push back the orange lock and then pull with small pliers) . The battery is OK but the camera will not start up with the battery in correctly. buy a new battery matee, i did the same thing, i bought a replacement battery on ebay, works a treat and im guessing half the rice of what you would buy in stores. good luck!
I've removed several using a pair of "duck-billed" needle-nose pliers. They're quite common and will allow you to grab the battery without damaging it or the camera body.
press the orange lever to take the battery out.
