Where can I get a replacement air filter & plastic housing f the "sponge" filter? All the appliance parts stores on the Web say that this Carrier doesn't recognizze this model number: XCA141D - But, it IS the Model on the nameplate that I wrote down & the same that you show on your website !

I've called this number, and they tell me there "is no model number beginning with XCA" even though this is shown on the nameplate!! See my comments in the original question - Who OUTSIDE of the Carrier corporate types have these air filters??

I have found many places that used to sell this air conditioner but I don't see anywhere to get a replacement filter. I believe you can just wash this filter and reuse it. If you really need a replacement, try seeing if any of carrier's current models have a similar filter. There should be a service center near your location. I see you also want the plastic housing, what is wrong with the current housing?

Need a part

Usually parts for appliances such as these are not worth replacing. The price may be almost as much as a new fan. Try to fix with epoxy or such, if you are really determined search the web for manufacturers site to get parts information or an appliance parts store and call with model number to see if parts are available.

Fluval u2 aquarium filter will not restart after tank maintenance

Firstly ensure that the impeller is in the motor house.
If so make sure the well the impeller sits in is clear of debris.

If so try running the motor out of the water and removed from the filter, if the impeller doesn't move try giving it a nudge with a pencil.
If none of this works the sealed motor may be broken and will need to be taken to the supplier for repair or replacement.

Where is the air filter on Craftsman Model 917377660 lawn mower

If you have a briggs or a tecumsen it is mounted on the side mounted on the top side of the carburator, one is a round cylindrical filter with a steel or plastic mesh surrounding and the other is a rather flat 3"X5" filter also mounted under a single center screw and cover. The third type is an oil bath type sponge filter, mounted directly on top of the carburetor on the side of the engine, you replace the sponge and clean out the metal housing held down with one long screw through its top center.

I have an old kenmore dryer series 80 and the timer just went out. Can I fix it?

You can buy replacement parts from lots of different places. Do an internet search for appliance parts, go to a local appliance store, or check ebay. You can get part number information from the manufacturer's web site or the appliance parts stores can help you. Make sure you have your model number when you go to the store.

You can fix the dryer yourself. You can get drawings of the dryer from the web sites and stores.

Broken Part. Need Replacement

If you refer to the oil filler plug, item #6 in the diagram linked here, it's listed as obsolete.

If refer to the intake filter, It's item #3 on the diagram, it too is listed obsolete.

I would contact Master Tool Repair at 757-410-2879. They can cross the part to another once they know the thread size of the old part.

Ignitor keeps sparking

Be sure to unplug the stove from the electrical power prior to testing.

Sparkers do go bad, so it could also be a defective one. Each sparker has a wire that pulls off the sparker element body. You can disconnect one at a time and test to see if the sparking stops.

If the sparking continues, then reconnect that one and disconnect another. Continuing with each sparker one at a time until you locate the one that may be causing the problem. The one that stops the sparking is the culprit.

If all the sparkers are sparking, the most likely cause is a defective capacitor in the spark modual. Spark moduals are not repairable. The entire part must be replaced. Replacements are available at the local appliance retail parts store listed in the phone book.

Another possibility is moisture during the cleaning process found it's way onto one or more of the switches. Excessively wet sponges or cleaning cloths allow water to get onto the switches, which will cause this problem, if applicable.

If this happens to be the case, then remove everything on the stove top and lift the lid, if applicable, since not all stoves have liftable top lids.

Remove any clear plastic covers on the valve stems, if applicable. Blow warm air over the switches using a common hair blow dryer. The idea here is to dry out the moisture, if there is any. Don't laugh....this hair dryer trick often works!...biggrin.gif

Another cause could be reversed electrical polarity. The plug end will have 3 prongs. It must be directly connected into a properly wired and grounded wall recepticle. Reversed electrical polarity over a long duration of time will destroy the spark module.

Do not use 2 prong extension cords to lenghten the existing appliances electrical wire. DO NOT bypass the grounding pin on the end of the appliances electrical cord. Doing either of these will also damage the spark module.

If you attempt to do any repairs, be sure the electrical power is turned off or the stove is unplugged. If you choose not to do the repairs yourself, contact the dealer's local service agency. Until then...unplug the appliance and light the burners with a match.

TIP:
The only positive proof any part like a spark modual is functioning correctly, is to carefully remove the part or parts you suspect to be the potential culprit, and have the local appliance parts store person run the required tests and or help make the final determination which part or parts are defective.

Retail parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Appliance parts dealers carry replacement parts for all appliances and are listed in the phone book under appliances. Appliance parts dealers test and stock replacement parts for all appliances.

Broken Knob for fan control

once you take off the front housing, the switch itself shoud be easy to remove and replace...sometimes, a used appliance store/repair office can get a suitable replacement part. Trick is to mark the wires as you remove them from the switch and take hte switch with you while you go part hunting. Also would help to have model and serial number (and brand name) noted to take along. Papdaddy
