It probably just screws onto the tripod-- this is a very simple telescope. Read myu tips on my profile page-- take it back to Toys R Us if it will not attach-- and never buy that brand again. We receive the most complaints with that telescope.

The screw you can find at a well stocked hardware store.
This is a common problem in the DS series. The altitude slewing mechanism has a design flaw that will cause the jack screw to back off of the axis gear, and get the screw caught on the internal body of the mount. It also tends to crush the jack screw against the motor spindle.
Meade does not sell replacement parts. You'll have to send the mount to them to have it repaired.
