The following web blog explains this problem, and the possible solutions:

Since you didn't mention if the cartridge was refilled or factory replacement, I will refer you to the blog for your options.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

Cannot print magenta

Most likely the magenta print head nozzles are blocked.
Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

My printer is not printing magenta. I have changed the cartridge (hp one), cleaned the print heads and

The magenta print head may be blocked. Try several deep cleaning of the print head to see if it can clear the blocked magenta print nozzles. Also check the magenta cartridge, make sure it is not empty.
If none of this works then the print head needs to be replaced.
NOTE the print head is not a cheap item, you may consider putting the money towards a new and better printer.

I installed new epson ink cartrage, but printer has red x and tells me to change ink again.? Can i just change only the bkack ink?

Yes you should be able to just change the black ink cartrage, A lot of printer wont allow other third party cartrages, is it a genuine epson ink cartridge? if so try cleaning the contacts on the cartrage.

New ink not printing

If the printer is recognising the cartridge it is probably installed correctly. When you choose Print, check that the magenta image is red and showing a level. If you have run the purge and head cleaning options I would say you have a dud cartridge

Will not print red, changed magenta cartrage still

I have the same problem. I also replaced the magenta cartridge. After extensive on line chat support with HP, it was determined to be a hardware problem, which they said they would fix for $299! Or "Trade Up" to a different LaserJet for $399, which is $50 more than it sells for with a rebate on their website. I am pursuing more options with their "Commercial Solutions Center" 1-800-HPINVENT (1-800-474-6836) This wasn't sucha great invention...

Color cartrage

hi
if you have a spare cartridge try with it..if it works fine..then its a defective colour cartridge...try cleaning the cartridge with a damp paper towel..if that does not fix the issue..contact tech support...your cartridge would be replaced if in warranty
goodluck

HP 4600 has magenta and cyan marks on back of printouts.

YOU NEED TO REMOVE THE CARTRAGES AND THEN UNPLUG THE PRINTER. CLEAN THE INSIDE WITH RUBBING ALCOHOL AND SOME Q-TIPS.YOU HAVE EXCESS INK ON THE INSIDE OF PRINTER. THIS IS WHY IT IS GETTING ON THE BACK SIDE OF YOUR PAPER. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU.

Epson c84 ink cartrages

Hello Carla, can you manually clean the heads where the ink delivers the printer. Try using the printers own program first then do a manual clean with proper cleaning solution if this will not work.

MFC-240C colr problem

No. Just buy original carts and install them. Run the manual cleaning procedure twice. Wait overnight and repeat the manual cleaning again. Should work. (..and give the compatible ones a dump)
