Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

Realtec RTL 8168D/811D wireless adapter, Plantonics DT12 (2.4MHz) Cordless Phone, Magic Jack, Windows7. Phone works intermittently in different ways. Sometimes caller can't hear me, sometimes call doesn't go through, etc. Plug MagicJack into standard Trim-line phone and MagicJack works perfectly. I assume it's interference from Wireless adapter. I also assume that it might be a channel issue. Again I assume that the Plantonics phone is on Channel 11 but I don't know what channel the wireless adapter is on, or if this will be the fix

SOURCE: Interference from 5.8 GHz cordless phones

also try changing the wireless channels to 11 to reduce interference to 3rd party hardware such as cordless phones, and power settings should be 10 to ensure modem is broadcasting at full 400mW of power. do not put the modem near your cordless phones, and it must be sitting upright.

SOURCE: magicjack does not recognize my phone

"However the phone option is not available..." Are you sure? you can switch to headset or by phone anytime you want. Switching to either one of these devices you need to right click on your magicJack phone number in the software(located at the top left portion) and click on "switch to phone/telephone".

Magic Jack Plus worked in USB and then Internet on computer stopped working

It's got the wrong gateway setting. Without a gateway (router) to the Internet it can only see local network stuff. I suspect the Magic Jack is still trying to be the gateway but it has no Internet. Stop Magic Jack doing this and it should work.

My magic jack plus will not work and I am wondering if the electrical connector is bad.

Go to the magic jack website and update your adapter. Also try different USB ports and reboot your computer with magic jack connected. If the computer does not recognize the adapter, try disconnectin and reconnecting into different ports. There is a update option on magic jack website and tech support as well.

Calls cutting out with magic jack

Your ISP connection speed may be inadequate. Typically, the upload speed (outgoing voice) is much slower than the incoming speed. To check majicjack recommends that you test your system on http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ .
It's also possible that your internet provider is purposely delaying the outgoing latency in order to discourage VoIP that THEY don't provide. I think this is (or at least should be illegal) but in any case a complaint to the FCC might be in order.

MagicJack VOIP sound cuts in and out

Try your magicjack device in another usb port, as they sometimes share an irq internally with other devices, hence the chopped sound. Also make sure your computer is no trying to go into sleep or suspended mode, check the power settings to make sure the system is not shutting down devices in low power or battery mode if using a laptop, make sure the connection speed is good and strong, especially if connected to a laptop, and make sure nothing is hogging the cpu, causing the chopped sound. Also there could be issues with the router. Lastly, perform a firmware upgrade on your magicjack device, restart the machine, and then test it again. Good luck.

I have a usb100 wireless adapter on 2.4 frew my cellphone are on

Hi!

This is a classic interference problem for wireless routers and adapters (specially if both your phone, wireless router and adapters are on the same frequency - say 2.4Ghz).

What we can try first is to change the channel on your wireless router. If you can specify the model/brand of your router I will be able to give you the specific steps in changing the wireless channel.

Second solution would be to move the wireless router and the base station of your cordless phone away from each other.

Third solution would be to replace the cordless phone with a unit that uses a different frequency (say a 5Ghz phone).

Regarding your USB wireless adapter, well it's just a receiver of a signal and there is nothing we can change on that device to resolve the problem. This is a problem between your wireless router and your cordless phone.

I hope that helps.

Good luck and have a nice day!
