It sounds like the router was reset to manufacturers default... you may need to untick the box that says to broadcast SSID, and you may want to check to make sure that you are using an encryption such as WEP on the wireless connection.

Hi I have an old Fujitsu P7010 I'm trying to connect to wireless network at home . But it doesnt seem to find a wireless network in range.

If you are trying to connect to a free WiFi network site try the Airport. Macdonalds, Starbucks etc.
The wireless networks in your area are most likely private wireless networks and if you find one within wireless range you most likely cannot connect into this network without the owner's permission because the connection will be encryption protection (they would need to give you this encryption key).

Trying to connect to wireless modem, i am within range of the modem. but i am not getting any bars on my DSi connection meter. i have reset modem and security settings, but still unable t get connection

it's possible that the option BROADCAST is off. You would need to login to your routers IP address, go to Wireless Settings and enable SSID broadcast.

My router is visible to all within my residence. How can I make it private again?

Rerun the "router configuration wizard", and either put a password onto the router (so that only those who know the password can connect) or tell the router to *NOT* "broadcast" the SSID of your network.

How to have a free wi-fi in my pc?

First you need a wireless card in your laptop and install the wireless driver.
Free WiFi spots are usually located at places like McDonalds. Star Bucks, the airport etc.
When you click on your wireless device and view available networks, you will see various wireless networks within range of your laptop, some are private and encrypted networks, others will be free wireless sites.

First option is to forward ports where your friends can connect to. The second option is to put your computer in DMZ. These options can be found on the router settings.

Slow internet connection

Sometimes ISPs (Internet Service Providers) upgrade information on their end to improve or alter something about their network. When this happens, routers have outdated information from the modem. You might want to try power cycling the modem and router. To do this, unplug the power from both the router and modem. After about 15-30 seconds, plug the modem back in. Wait for all of the lights to come on excluding the "PC Activity" light if it exists. Once the modem is registered with your ISP, plug your router back in and test your net speed using a site such as:

http://www.speedtest.net

If your service is back to normal, then you're all set. If it isn't, you may want to contact your ISP as there could be something wrong with the route traffic is taking from the node to your residence.
