Toshiba Satellite L505-LS5014 made a popping noise and then turned off. It had done this 10 minutes before but this time it won't turn on. Any ideas on what's the problem and how to fix it?

The problem may be in the DC jack in the laptop, sometimes solder touch up or DC jack replacement is required. the computer will need to be dismantled down to the motherboard level to address this.

Toshiba satellite laptop won't keep the correct time

Sounds like you need to change the CMOS Battery. Most times you will have to disassemble the laptop to get to it. It is on the motherboard somewhere. Looks like a silver nickel and once you see it pop it out with a flat head screw driver. The normal size is CR2032 but check yours. They can be purchased at Walmart, your grocery store or drug store for less than $5.00

yup, its actually pretty common, my g60, which is the same as the cq60 have fallen off before, it turned out to be the retainer clip under the laptop key, you can buy it from www.replacementlaptopkeys.com, you just need to snap it back on there, its simple.

The cooling fan is not working

THe shutting down is your laptop's thermal protection. It is trying to keep the CPU from being destroyed.  You should stop using it until you fix it, or you will destroy it.
The fans are not hard to replace and toshiba disassembly is fairly straight forward. Just get your #1 and #2 phillips head screw drivers and pay attention to how you take it apart.
Call Toshiba and order replacement fans for your laptop as they will not set you back very much.
