If you are referring to office documents such as word excel, and power point. Download open office and install then you will be able to open the documents.

Then either you can save them 1 of 2 ways.

Option 1
Click on File->Save As -> and change the file type to you choice (i.e .doc, .xls, .ppt).

Option 2 Click on Tools-> Options on the left pane you will see Load/Save.
Select the General at the bottom you will see a "Document Type" drop down box and "Always save as" drop down box. Change each one to their respective type. Please see the attached image for a better clarification.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I have 2, HDD's that ran Win9_ OS, can the data now be transfered

This is not that difficult if you have a desktop. You can add the drives as secondary devices and then transfer your data. There are two types of drives IDE or SATA. You will have to confirm which type they are and if your motherboard in the desktop supports them. If you need additional help post back and I can guide you further.

If this post was helpful please rate the solution.

Thanks, Gary

Cant transfer files, installed softwear foll;owed instruction connected both computers both are xp's old computer looks like it is collecting file but it never gets to the new computer.

files are often transferred or copied from one computer to another by use of a home network.or LAN port. this is similar to how files are downloaded from the network or torrent sites,.Keep in mind, people on this site are here to help you solve your problems usually without any cost. It is necessary to collect as much information as possible.
