Question about NEC MultiSync 1550V 15" LCD Monitor

Problem with an NEC MultiSync 1550V 15" LCD

When the monitor is switched on the power button will glow green, and then it will turn off and the screen will flash white. After the same interval the power light will glow green again, but the monitor will still be black, and the cycle will repeat

i have the exact same problem same monitor. i also have 35 years experience repairing consumer electronics. It appears to be a PS problem; when the power is removed from the raster board the green light functions correctly turning amber when no signal. however i haven't yet test the transistors related to the switching function of the power supply operation.

The power supply section may be failed, or there may be a short on one of the boards causing the monitor to cycle through the protect mode.

No picture. flashing green light. I can see a flahing, faded image at times.

this sounds like the lcd inverter inside the monitor is going bad. You can take it in to a repair shop and see if they can fix it but with the labor and parts it might be cheaper to go out and buy a new monitor for cheap especially since black friday is coming up you should be able to get a great deal on one. And it will have a warranty.

Best of luck..

NEC MultiSync LCD1765 won't power on

Look for bad caps with bulging top in the power supply first, post back what you see inside so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps (after about 2 years): http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

No picture and ligh just plinks

kathleen2002, If no picture, then do flashlight test! Six words and no punctuation will not garner much help on fixya here darlin. Tell us more. We need to know how old the unit is and or number of hours use. Did unit work perfectly the day before? Does this monitor get power from a "black lay on floor brick" or does it power up direct from wall outlet? When it worked last, did it have a bright, crisp image displayed on the LCD panel? If you are not a technician familiar with LC display technology you will NOT be able to repair it. As a consumer/user, your options are very limited. 1. NEC warranty if covered. 2. Cash+old monitor swapout with NEC for a refurbished 1550V w/new CCFT/inverter/SMPS. 3. Local Technician to refurbish your unit with new cold-cathode-fluorescent-tubes+Inverter supply repair if required and test unit's switch-mode-power-supply. 4. OR just trade up to a new and younger model. Bye for now. louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @aol.com

What cable do I buy

If it is a dvi monitor then you would need a dvi cable. VGA monitor would need a VGA cable. HDMI monitor would need a hdmi cable. If it is compatible with both dvi & vga and your video card has a dvi output then dvi is a better quality than vga. You can purchase the cable online at a store like cables2go. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

No power

The NEC LCD1550M series flat panels that won't or intermittently start up often have a weak capacitor in the power supply. C807, 100uf @ 25vdc electrolytic. Replacing it often restores normal function.
