Question about Panasonic KX T7220 Corded Phone

1 Answer

D816 phone system with new KX-td7895 cordless phone that we cannot get the phone system to recognize. I have been reading posts that say to disable the XDP feature (program 600) but I cannot find a menu or screen for '600'? Please help! Just need to get this phone working - been trying for 2 days!

Thanks for your advice Carl, but no luck so far. The phone has it's own port, we just expanded the D816 system with a new 8 line expansion card last week to the tune of about $1200. I guess I am going to have to call a technician and pay the $150/hr for some 18 year old tech to walk in here and have it working in less than 5 minutes....

It's not that we don't have the manuals - we purchased the manuals for the phones and for the updated phone system and have been through them 3 times... Ugh... very irritating that we cannot add a single phone to our phone system and set it up without a degree in electrical engineering....

That model is either a system phone or a single line set. If you're going to use it as an SLT, then you can plug it into the XDP and enable the port in 600. 600 is a SYSTEM program accessed from the main phone and enabled per port.

If you operate in the multi-line mode, you need to wire this phone to its own port on your 816 system.

I'm not going to say you got ripped off, but you go ripped off :-) I have 3 TD-170 cards on the shelf that I'd have been greatful to get $300 each for!

Start by plugging in the cordless on any port that a digital phone works on in the base cabinet but the first and the VM port ie 102-108 but not the VM port. Make sure it works there first.
The expansion card is fed from a 25-pair Amphenol cable. In APITS mode, the cordless uses both pairs, so you have to make sure the first two of every 3 pairs are being used for the cordless phone jack, as in pairs 1

Bottom half of this truncated, here's the continuation.

As in pairs 1-2, 4-5, 7-8 etc. and become extensions 109-116 by default. You can test your wiring by plugging an analog phone into the jack alone, or a digital phone into the jack alone and both should work as 109-116.

Technician came yesterday, programmed all of the phone extensions in about 10 minutes... $144 plus taxes. I asked him if he could show us how to do it in case we had to re-program the extensions if we move desks around and such but he said no, too complicated. (?)

Now the call-display on the phones does not work when someone calls in... ugh... now another tech call for another $144?? This is getting absolutely ridiculous....

Though your help is appreciated the problem is not the 'system' that we are dealing with, it is the service and the end-user programming and tweaks of it. Technicians are very knowledgeable about their products, but they (generally) have terrible customer service skills.

If you search carefully, you ought to be able to find me on the internet. Use FixYa as the subject line and we can talk privately. If you own a set of manuals you ought to be able to teach yourself simple programming. Keep in mind that this system is 15 years old and has been manufacturer discontinued for about 5-7 years. We don't even worry about who has access to the box nowadays. Be sure to include your city and state in the email.

Really appreciate your help - I think I will try to find you and get some guidance - my boss is already steaming about the amount of money we have spent (about $1500 now) to simply add a couple of phone extensions to the system..... Thanks again for your help Carl!

The KX-TGA101S isn't an answering machine. If you have a separate answering machine connected to your phone line, consult its documentation (or post a new question to FixYa specifying the make and model of the answering machine). If you're subscribed to a voicemail system provided by your telephone company, contact them for instructions on accessing the their system.

Is the Panasonic 7731 compatable with the D816 Hybred system

Yes. It requires both pairs to be connected back to the KSU and you lose the XDP that isn't on the back of an analog phone. Also, you can't plug it into an XDP of an existing digital phone.

I have a Panasonic KX-TD7895 cordless phone. The volume is so low that I often can't hear the conversation. Hitting the volume button does not resolve the problem. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Common problem, but if your not a phone tech with a parts account, schematics, etc.., I recommend you send it in for repair than risk breaking it since it is such a valuable phone and one wrong move can ruin it beyond repair. If it was a $50 phone, I would say tear into it and give it a shot. But at over $350 you should have a pro do it and its much cheaper than buying a replacement or sending to Panasonic. Google kx-td7895 repair and you can find a private facility.

Panasonic TD7895

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but I think they have to go back to the factory in GA to be synched again.

There might be something obscure in the codes on the handset and base that will let it work, but I'm guessing not.

KX-TD7895 problem

If you were using this unit and it was functioning, then most likely the handset has gotten damaged, and you would need to send the handset and base into repair (its not programming setting or a field servicable problem). If your testing this unit for the first time, the base may not "match" the handset. You can tell if they match by looking at the code on the little white sticker on the bottom of the base, and it must match the code on the sticker on the handset which is under the battery. So if they match, and they still will not communicate with eachother not much can be done until its put on a diagnostics and testing. You can google kx-td7895 repair to find a facility. Good luck
