Sounds like maybe the tilt safety switch has failed. Try returning it to your dealer for a replacement unit.

Buring smell

A few Questions might help to understand your problem better:

1.) When does the smell occur?
Like-- after storage for some time?
or after being off awhile, and dust (or ?) landed on the element?

2.) Is anyone spraying paint, or aerosols while the heater is on?
(Or-- as above-- dusting, or something in the air that is flowing past the element and burning?)

3.) Can you see anything that might have fallen onto the element-- and is maybe glowing?

4.) Tell us more about the sequence that makes the smell?

I have a lasko tower ceramic heater that keeps shutting down.

mine does the same thing every year. I just clean out the dust from the vents on the back of the heater so the heater can breath otherwise it could get too hot and the safety fetcher kick in and makes the heater stop working.
