Question about Honeywell Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have a sv9500m 2674 tha has a sticker that says it has been converted to L P gas. The ignitor lights the pilot and the fan comes on. The pilot stays lit and the main furnace fan comes on but the burner never fires. I have checked the electrical connections, cleaned the flame sensor that is on the ignitor (Q3400A1024) and cleaned the orafaces on the burner. I am thinking that the valve may be bad because the main furnace fan does activate which I assume is also controlled by the flame sensor. Any input is greatly appreciated, hopefully I can fix this thing before it gets really cold. THANKS!! Dave

Hello,If you cleaned the flame sensor and it is in the pilot flame,Try adding a ground wire from the pilot assembly to any close screw to boost the (pilot on) signal. Also if the valve has been sitting for a while give a tap once during (pilot on) to make sure the diaphram is just not hung up.I would hate to replace the valve and still have the same problem.

Is there a pilot light tha ossbl went out?

There is a pilot light on the millivolt heaters. If you remove the service cover, you should be able to see the pilot. If you are not sure where to look, follow the wire from the ignitor. Where it ends (where the sparker is) is where the pilot flame should be.

check for gas at pilot tube first . if there and pilot not lighting then pilot line or orifice is clogged. if pilot is lighting check for 24v to main gas valve terminals. if have voltage either you have a bad gas valve or carry over tube on rack is clogged . if older unit clean carry over tube reinstall and check for voltage and if lights if not then gas valve is bad

Pilot light comes on but heat does not come on.

You will need to take out the ignitor, and if it has some black carbon build up you can take a piece of sand paper and remove the carbon until the ignitor is shiny, replace the ignitor and then give it a try.

Gas oven(tappen) with broiler draw. oven will not light, no pilot

if this is fairly new, there is a hot surface ignitor near the back of the burner in the bottom part of the oven. This can go bad. There is a connector that can be pulled apart where the ignitor meets the wiring harness. Ohm out the ignitor or have someone with a meter ohm it out. There should be resistance and not open. If open the ignitor should be replaced. If you have a broiling element, turn that on. If the broil element comes on then the ignitor is almost for sure the problem.

Gas heater won't ignite

I agree. Either the pilot flame is dirty and is not making good contact to heat up the bi metal strip on the pilot assembly, or the pilot assembly is defective. 90% of the time if you clean the pilot orfice and the pilot burner it will take care of the problem

Kenmore gas oven won't light. The pilot light is on but no gas. What do I do?

Put a torch on the probe. If the flame comes on them the thermocouple is weak.If nothing at all replace the safety valve. That is if you have a standing pilot. If you pilot is an electric one then it should be so bright it is hard to look at but if it is dim orange it is weak.
