Either:
* the disk-drive's "data" and "power" cables are not connected
* the disk-drive is "dead"
* the motherboard has been told to "ignore" the disk-drive

So, either:
* connect the two cables,
* replace the disk-drive,
* enter BIOS SETUP and use "auto-detect disk-drives"
to "enable" the motherboard to use the device

Computer wont boot

That sounds like you have a dead hard disk drive if the hard disk drive is dead then you will need to have it replaced there is a way to check if it is dead or not, you will need to go into the bios for most it's usually the hi lighted tab when the bios comes if its dead the hard drive slot should say empty or none if it's not dead it will show the hard drive info

Loveno S10-2 - No bootable device found

Make sure your hard drive has higher priority in the boot options in BIOS. If it still doesn't boot then you will need to replace your hard drive. If it shows no hard drive in BIOS then the drive is most certainly bad and needs to be replaced.

On the BIOS set up, it will show HDD (none) but if i return the old one the system will detect it.

This model laptop was installed with a 60Gb hard disk. When you installed a much larger hard disk the BIOS could not detect this hard drive.
Check the HP/Compac WEB site foe a possible BIOS upgrade that can support a large hard drive. Otherwise try a hard drive 120Gb or smaller.

First, upon startup, go into the BIOS configuration page. Check the list of hard disks present. If none are shown, your hard drive has died.
If the hard drive is present, and if you have an OS install CD, try booting from that, then running the disk check utility. (In Windows, select Recovery Console, then type "CHKDSK C:" on the command line (omit the quotes). In Linux, open Terminal, then type "fsck -f".
If you have questions about running the disk repair program, typing "CHKDSK /?" or "man fsck" at the command line gives you the instructions and describes the options.

Not getting a drive letter from Compaq SCSI RAID setup

Did you see any new drives in the disk managemen screen? To get to the disk management, hold window key down and hit 'R', then type diskmgmt.msc and hit enter.

If you do see the drive in the lower half of the screen, you need to initialize the drive either as dynamic disk or basic disk. Then you need to add a new partition and format it.

Good luck.

Bios shows not hard disk even after putting to Auto and trying User settings

This usually means Hard Drive failure, are your connections good? Is this a new drive? If you know you have a drive with os on it then boot files could be damaged. Can you boot with os disk? You can do a repair from the windows disk in recovery mode. reset bios to default values. Last resort before saying maybe the drive controllers on motherboard are bad. Take apart and do good cleaning. This worked believe it or not on a stubborn laptop that I replaced Hard Drive and still was giving me similar errors. Client says computer has been working ever since.
