How to disassemle garmin 4208

If you have the correct soldering equipment and have the replacement part, it shouldn't be too hard. You'll need a jewelers screw driver to get the small screws out. Use a guitar pick to pop open the case. Work it around the case until the back half separates. Clicking and popping sounds are normal. Take out the battery wires. Do NOT yank on the wires... gently grab the plug and wiggle it loose.Remove the screws holding the board to the case to expose the solder side and remove the broken power jack.

I connected my Garmin gpsmap76 to a Raymarine autopilot using the NEMA output from the GPS. The autopilot was also on the seatalk bus. It work fine. The GPS provided navigational guidance to the autopilot

Check the wiring again. Installing my M422 needed to switch the polarity of the NEMA input from my GPS75. May be similar problem

Change your source from Garmin to NEMA. That will fix it. Garmin is working on a fix now.

How do I plug my Garmin into a Hyandai?

Most modern vehicles have more than one cigarette lighter socket, there are usually at least one extra for outboard accessories. If this is no the case then you nay have to install a socket multiplier, these are usually available anywhere that sell auto parts or accessories, it will plug into your current socket and provide you with however many sockets you require. (available in 2, 3, 4 socket configurations)
Or you can hard wire one of these multipliers into the car.

Hope this is of some help.

Make sure all three T-connectors are connected and that you connect the YELLOW cable to the last one. This yellow cable will need to be connected to power. Then you will get GPS link up.

Non-Garmin GPSr

Garmin software will only work with Garmin hardware. Garmin does not use the standard NEMA protocol for GPS output, but their own. Also their software is tied to their hardware by a unit id, which require an unlock code in order for the maps to function.

No guage screen on my garmin 4208

Need more info:

Is your Garmin hooked up to your engine's computer via an NMEA 2000 data cable?

The gauge option will not appear in the menu if the GPS does not recognise the data coming from your engine. (If you turn on the GPS simulator, you should see the gauges on that screen.)

There are 3 possible reasons that the gauges do not appear in the menu:

1) improper wiring between engine and gauges.

2) GPS has not been set up to receive data in the GPS's NMEA setup menu.

3) Engine has not been set up to send NMEA data.

This is a relatively new feature that only works on newer engines that are NMEA 2000 capable, such as Volvo and Evinrude Etec.  The engines usually need an optional instrument package to make use of the NMEA 2000 system.

We're just scratching the surface here, please reply with any questions.
