Typically this issue is the receptical. It MUST be tight and hard to push the plug in, or resistance goes up and burn damage or fire can happen. What happens is the wall plug gets some resistance, and heats up, then the spring tension goes away, resistance goes up, and eveything gets worse.

Be aware that most kitchen plugs (single outlet) are TWO circuits, the top plug being one and the bottom plug being another (same plug). So, there will be a 220 style bridged two breaker switch in your fuse panel. There is one tab that needs to be broken on the hot side of the outlet.

Check other plugs in your home, no need to have a fire.

Have a de walt mitre compound saw 712xe; it has been stored for some time, and does not go when I squeeze the switch.. there is definitely power on the plug.

there is few blocks (physical) which restrain it's movement, but electrical is only and only switch.

check cord to the saw, if power is positively on and no joy, you need
om-meter (resistance) and if you have, continuity meter (i made one from 1.5v battery, 1.5v bulb and about 3m of speaker wire, i done that in 1964 and i am still using it...)

!. unplug power supply
2. rotate blade by hand and check if it rotates freely
3. tap gently on the sides of motor where brushes are
4. remove brushes cover and check they status (sometime bit of dust get there and it is stuck preventing contact)
5. using compressed air - blow all dust from brushes and brushes mounts
6. replace brushes and covers
7. try to start machine again,

if no joy, to exclude cabling and switch:

!. unplug power supply
2. lift the switch cover (of the memory i think it is six screws)
3. check for obvious burns or acrid smell
4. check now for cable to the plug continuity
5. check switch working on both sides
6. replace cover
7. try to start machine again,

if all of these were ok - it will indicate problem with motor, check therefore motor electrical continuity and flows

i hope you will find this little instruction helpful, do not forget to vote :-)

We have a Panasonic NN-CT579SBPQ. Using it last night there was several cracking noises then it stopped. The display showed the message you get when it is first plugged in. Tried it again, turntable...

The microwave oven needs to be replaced, the magnetron is the most likely problem, there is also a high voltage transformer, capacitor, and diode that are potential issues. But by your description it sounds like more than one part is involved.

I was drilling a hole and my drill blow up with a burning smel

could be quite a few problems, did you overload or stall the drill, did you have adequate power supply? Quick test without knowing the model number and brand can you turn the bit or chuck with your hand? If it is cordless is the battery contacts burnt? If electric unplug and remove the handle halves and look at the armature/field for burnt windings or burnt switch, all which could cause a burning smell and shut the tool down, let me know and I will try and help further.

Fan works randomly....when it's not working plug

Hi, If the computer is hot near the electrical plug in the back of the computer then the power supply needs to be replaced. This will also cause overheating problems if the fan does not exhaust enough air. You should not run the computer in this condition because the power supply can short out and take other components with it. Also there is a risk that it will burn up. Power supplies are very inexpensive and can be changed by anyone with basic computer repair knowledge. Hank

Hot water connected but does not fill into the drum? The machine will provide us with a cold wash but on the warm and hot settings the hot water dies not pull through the connection

Turn off the water valves which supply the water to washer hoses. Switch the hot and cold water supply hoses and tighten. Turn the water valves back on and try to run a wash cycle using cold. If hot water only is entering the wash tub the water supply is ok. If this is the case you can unplug the washer and turn off the water valves. Remove the washer back cover and follow the water connection for the hot water. The water solenoid valve will have two electrical wires connected to it. Interchange the hot water solenoid wires with the cold water solenoid connection. Connect the water supply hoses hot to hot and cold to cold then plug the unit then test the washer on the cold wash. If the problem persists it could be a water hose restriction or the timer circuit could be defective. If you have hot water at the normal pressure purchase a new hot water solenoid valve. With the electrical cord unplugged be sure to restore the correct wire connections on the hot and cold water solenoid. To replace the hot water solenoid remove the hose clamp and hose to replace the old valve. Connect the unit to the water and electrical outlet. Turn on the water and test the unit for leaks being careful not to touch any electrical and moving parts. If all checks ok and the correct temperature work, unplug the unit and reassemble.

Is this a new ATX switch mode power supply?
If the ATX power supply is old then the capacitors may leak and overheat to give a burn't smell. I would not advise you to try and repair these power supplies, they operate with dangerous mains voltages inside the case.
The ATX power supply has standard mountings holes that line up with the desktop case and can only be fixed to the case in one position.
If you have overheating problems you can add addition 12volt fan inside case, The fan should be positioned to draw air into the case.

I need to unplug and move a built-in Maytag dishwasher

Follow these steps:

1. Locate the electrical service breaker for your appliance and turn it off at the breaker panel. If it is plugged in by a serivce outlet, unplug the unit.
2. Turn off the water source under the sink.
3. Disconnect the drain line under the sink.
4. Remove the lower panel under the dishwasher door.
5. Locate the small electrical junction box under the dishwasher and disconnect the wires leads. Remember, standard household wiring is as follows: BLACK (HOT - 110-120VAC), WHITE (NEUTRAL - 0VAC, GREEN (or bare copper) is GROUND. Make sure you reconnect the wires in this fashion with wire lug nuts. If you have a local outlet plug you may leave the wiring instact.
6. Locate the fill valve (Usually on the left hand side of the dishwasher). This is where the water supply line connects. Disconnect the water supply line from the fill valve.
7. The dishwasher should have a couple of mounting screws located where the top of the dishwasher cabinet meets the underside of the cabinet.
8. With everything removed, the dishwasher should now be free and slide out from under the cabinet.

Let me know if you have further questions. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: You can also remove the water supply line at the fitting under the sink if it makes things easier.

Allen -

It sounds as though you may have either blown the power supply, or burned the power circuit on the motherboard. That buzzing sound usually indicates an electric arc, where electricity passes through open air from one contact to another; In this case, it was probably caused by a loose or broken solder connection on the laptop's power jack.

If you can get your hands on an identical or equivalent power supply, test it with your laptop. If it works, then the power supply just needs to be replaced.

If not, try taking the battery out of your laptop, and plugging it in again. Sometimes, when a power supply burns up, the battery will discharge, rendering it inoperable.

Hope this helps!
