Question about HP PSC 1315 All-In-One InkJet Printer

I have a HP 9100 series printer. I have Readiris Pro 12 Software on my computer and when tried to scan from the printer/scanner I get this message "cannot open the twain default source'. Can you help me?

Base from the description of your problem the issue here is with the driver installed on your computer and the best way to correct this issue is to do the following.

1.uninstall software and drivers from control panel
2.reboot computer
3.install software and drivers

Not a valid image file.


This sounds like something on the Hardware, on the way its uploading onto the computer. Does it do this with every image you try to scan onto PDF?

You need a OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program to convert your scanned text pages (which are images) to text.
You printer software doesn't include such a program.
There are a number of commercial programs available -- I.R.I.S, ReadIris, Abbyy Fine Reader, Adobe Acrobat (not the free Acrobat Reader), just to mention a few -- and also some free programs (SimpleOCR came first in a Google search).
Also, some computers also come with a limited version of these programs installed. I have an HP that came with a version of Readiris

Can not get the scanner to open, at all, no communication to the scanner. I have readiris pro 12, with an old HP OfficeJer G series scanner RP


DID YOU INSTALL THE SCANNER TWAIN DRIVERS, YOU NEED TO INSTALL IT TO SUPPORT YOUR SCANNER IRIS READIRIS PRO 10, AND WITH THE PROGRAMS INSTALL ALSO PROVIDING A CD OR DVD INSTALLER... ALSO READ THE MANUAL TO KNOW THAT YOUR SCANNER IS COMPATIBLE FIRST WITH YOUR OS or OPERATING SYSTEM, IT REQUIRES ON IT. AFTER THIS INSTRUCTION YOU MAY RUN YOU SCANNER PROPERLY... GOOD LUCK!

I need to scan a document from my printer/scanner (HP psc 950) onto my PC. I have pushed all the obvious button and thought I was downloading the image from the scanner to my computer. Turns out I was not....


I believe this printer comes with the Readiris Pro 5.5 software for OCR.
If this is installed on your computer use it to scan the document and send it to your desired location/application by selecting it in the text format screen.
All this is done from the computer not the scanner.

REadiris won't convert pdf to word


Converting a scanned PDF to Word document requires OCR technology, so that it can extract the text out of an image. Not many PDF converter can make it. You can try the online OCR converter called OCRterminal.com, it can convert scanned PDF to Word, 20 pages for free per month. Hope it helps.

I purchased a HP LaserJet 3050


The instruction to use scanner in HP Laserjet 3050

Click Start, click All Programs or Programs, and then click HP. Click HP LaserJet
3050/3052/3055/3090 all-in-one, and then click Scan.

Click Setup.

Select Change the destinations that show up on the all-in-one control panel when I press
the Scan To button, and click Next.

Select Allow me to scan by pressing the Scan To button on the all-in-one....
Move the destinations from the PC window to the All-in-one window.

Click Update. See the online User Guide for complete information
