Question about Acer Aspire 3000 Notebook

1 Answer

Turns Off When using the recovery program to make an image of the C drive it turns off shortly after it reboots and starts running the Ghost program. I also tried booting from a Ghost CD and the same thing happens, even if I don't even run Ghost, about 2 min after it boots into DOS it turns itself off. Does not turn off when in Windows except when I try to run Spybot Search and Distroy.

I am thinking 1 of three things first off acers are very nice computers but hard computers,I have seen this promblem before, you are going to have find a search and remove promgram for this spybot and completely remove it from your pc, it sounds as though it is causeing some conficts between software and your computer isn't listening to you....You mite try www.MajorGeeks.com
for free removel software of some sort after removeing it I would suggest completely shutting it down and re booting it,after that try reinstalling your reboot disc (but, make sure that you go into bios and set up download from cd rom ) don't forget to unhook any unnessarry hard ware such as scan drives printers and usb port items or it will cause more nuts then now. lala linda

I want to format my hard drive

If you have a true image to restore from, as like what is created with Win7 Pro Backup, or from Norton Ghost, you should be able to make a total restore. The destination drive had to be the same size or larger than from the drive the original image was taken from.

With Windows, you will require the image recovery DVD disk that are created using the OS that the image was generated from. With Ghost, you will require the Ghost recovery DVD disk to restore the image.

I can not detach my IBM Think pad 2662 lap top from the driver

I had the same issue. Here's what I did. Not sure if it will work for you. But give it a try.
1) turn on the machine and press "F2" to go into set up.
2) Press alt-p seven times to go to the last page.
3)Press the down arrow to highlight HDD password. Set a password as instructed and reboot the machine.
4) You can remove this password later once your machine starts fine.

Even if you didn't get try this too.

1. Make bootable CD which contains Norton Ghost or other disk image software
2. Boot your system using bootable CD with Norton Ghost software, u can use Hiren's CD ISO image. If u don't know about hiren just google it.

2. Once you boot up , open Norton Ghost click LOCAL-> PARTITION->FROM IMAGE

3. Now "look in" for "[DellRestore]FAT drive" and select this drive (this is recovery partition)

4. Now go to "IMG" folder and select FI.GHO file

5. Click Open and there you go... Process started

I get the blue screen when I turn my computer on. I cannot get into Safe Mode or anything. I was told that i can press Control something when it is starting to run the system recovery. I cant figure...

Use ERD Commander if your CD-ROM is working you will be able to boot the PC using this tool then check a few critcial checking steps.

http://rapidshare.com/files/251960002/ERD_Commander_2005.zip

If this doesn't work you will only be able to enter the recovery console if you installed it before the BSOD using your Windows CD or I386 cab files.

Hindsight is a great thing but for future reference its a good idea to create a drive image using Norton Ghost of Drive Image.

Toshiba satellite a205-s5804 keeps shutting down

when you start having this problem it's normally caused by a critical systems error. worry not.. with a little time on your part we can fix this- this is how-
Go here
using a torrent program ie (utorrent2.gif, shareaza, etc) download SPINRITE.exe. Burn this on a disk, the program is written with freedos included, but this will not work with 100% of laptops. if freedos won't allow the program to run successfully then you need to use a program such as PowerISO to burn the disk and make it a bootable image,
after burning the program to disk-
  • insert disk and reboot2.gif
  • press any key to boot from cd if asked
  • when you see Prompt, change to cd drive2.gif
  • type SPINRITE to start program
  • use recovery option 5
this may take a few hours or a few days depending on the condition of the HDD.
I have used this program to fix computers I've picked up on the side of the road. I would power it on, start to load then go into a loop. after running this program overnight I was able to reboot (after removing disk) and the pc started right up.

Make sure you run a program like Ccleaner (you can get at www.fileippo.com) to clean your registry and junk files after completion. ^_^

hi,
yea you may, but make sure that you have already created a *Ghost* image of your current setup.

All you need is a bootable CD with some utilities which will help you out.

Try "hiren's Magic Disk 9.5" : it is bootable disk with proper menus and lots of utilities to make you king of your system.

This disk is usually used by System professionals (including me) :)

Instructions:
1. Boot your system with this magic disk
2. Goto Clone Disk option (Ghost disk)
3. Choose Best compression version
4. utility will start Symantec Ghost which will ask you for the source partition and destination partition for making images.
5. proceed with proper answers.
6. once the ghost imaging is complete, store this ghost image in your external storage drive
7. again boot your system with this magic disk
8. goto Partition utilties
9. Select Acronis Partition manager
10. You'll love to use this software for hard disk maintanence.

Regards,
kuldeep

Qosmio g15 recovery disk error

If the discs are clean and pretty much scratch free, then this is most likely a bad hard drive. If you have another PC or laptop, try burning copies of the recovery cds and then use those. If the problem remains, you will need a new hard drive.
