I was given an old fisher 885 receiver, eq, and tuner. Dont know where all the wires plug in the back and cant get it to work. Any idea where the red and white input wires plug into where?

Do you mean the CA-885?

I couldn't find any free documentation but I did find pictures.

With the exception of PHONO, which is literal and for a turntable ONLY, any input will work with any standard analog stereo audio device output.

RCA Red and White connectors are interchangeable but usually consider Red to be the Right Channel and White to be the left Channel.

The two tape loops are for tape decks or external processors like equalizers. OUTs (RECord) go to INs (PlayBack).

I have a fisher ca-9335 integrated stereo amplifier thats hooked up to sanyo tp 1010 turn table and plays out of yamaha ns-70t speakers. a simple jvc cd player is also hooked up to the speakers but not to...

Something doesn't add up. You mention two connections to the speakers - CA-9335 and a "simple jvc cd player". Is that true? If so, you might want to UNconnect the CD from the speakers and run it into the receiver where it belongs. An amp isn't designed to share the load with another live device; or even have electrical contact with anything BUT speakers.

Did you actually find documentation that supports this hook-up? Or just winging it?

Fisher CA-885 Integrated Stereo Amplifier stuck in stand-by mode

Given the heat/cold cycles of the storage area along with humidity, I would first suspect poor solder connections. This is not unusual for units of this age. A general overhaul should restore this to operation. This should be a labor only repair unless the output STK is bad. These units are known for having poor connections at the voltage regulators which cause a DC voltage offset triggering the protection circuit. The overhaul should address this as well.

Keep us posted on your progress.

RE: Fisher Model CA-270 - 480 watts.

These units use amp-pacs for the output stage, if I remember correctly. All in all, the unit will require some diagnosis to determine the problem with the power supply and the final output stage. The total cost of repair easily could exceed $125. You can probably replace the unit with a better one for not much more.

If you would still like this unit repaired, please indicate where you are in the country and I'll try to find a shop for you.

How to connect the FISHER EQ-273 equalizer to the FISHER CA-885

It goes between whatever you are using to create the sound and the input to the amplifier.
e.g. for a standard HiFi.. HiFi aux out to equalizer input... equalizer output to amplifier aux input.
Trying to keep left and right channels the same through out. They are usually colour coded. Red = right Left = white.
Hope that helps.
We all start somewhere
