I had this happen with my fridge when the door was open for awhile when I was cleaning the inside. I did what you did, clean everything behind it. Pay particular attention to the circuit boards, there may be reset buttons in that area. Then unplug the freezer for 10 minutes (make sure it's for a FULL 10 minutes) then plug it back in and try it.

GE Dishwasher - loud rumbling/growling noice!

If I am not mistaken this dishwasher has a Clean out at the bottom of the machine that can open .This is here to catch stuff like broken glass and things like that. It has a little fan like blades that act to chop up food that is to big to go down the outlet hose. also look under the machine if you can ,but in most cases you must remove 4 screws to get the bottom kick plate off, Also check all the spinning arms to make sure they are turning correctly. hope this helps

Ge profile side by side refrigerator is not cooling to the recommended temperature

The GE profile has a smaller condensor grill, so keeping the area free of debri and dirt is very important. Check the grill and vacuum it off, also make sure that the back is kept clear of items since it needs front to back air flow. If that doesn't help the cooling then I would check for ice build up in the freezer (behind rear inner panel) that could be giving the thermostat the wrong readings.

GE Profile leaking onto floor

Clean the drain pan and drain line in the back of the freezer section behind the cover underneath the evaporator coil. (hint: use turkey baster with hot water) Make sure water drains when you pour it in. If it doesn't - also clean drain tube on the back of the unit behind the cover. When done - put the tube exactly where it was.
Good luck! :)

Motor is "growling" refrigerator/freezer aren't cooling

if youre getting a funny noise, it might be the consenser and not the motor, or it could be the motor, either way a weird sound is a good sign of failure, or soon to fail. Have it checked by an experienced tech.

My freezer also just jumped to 17° and won't go down to 0.

We need to check the evaporator fan and the condenser fan. The heat in the door frame is normal when the refrigerator runs normally. But when a control board or fan fails the heat may increase because they are heat strips behind the door or condenser lines placed there to prevent moisture around door seals. We also will need to unplug and have a look at the mother board on back behind a panel. Many times the board will show burn marks on the back or front. When you are ready let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

GE Profile making knocking noises at different times

I have the GE profile Refrigerator with ice maker in the refrigerator compartment. Mine was knocking loudly for long periods of time, so I finally removed the icemaker by removing the side panel in the icemaker compartment held with 1 phillips head screw, disconnecting the electrical plug (unclip), pulling the tab of the icemaker down (on top) and sliding it toward the door, thus removing it. There was ice frozen in the motor compartment that was the problem. I let it thaw out and re-installed. All was OK after that..

GE Profile TCC18 Refridgerator freezes Up regularly.

I had the same problem. I changed the defrost thermostat and that has solved the problem. Just to make sure the problem is not recurring I drilled a small hole in the back of the plastic drain(behind the fridge) so that I can put a long screw driver inside to determine if there is any ice build up. None so far after 3 weeks.

There is a timer that determines the defrost of the cooling coil inside the back wall of the freezer. defrost timer may be located in the area of the controls for temperature. Look for a hole in that area and recessed in that hole you may find a clutch head screw. Turn this screw clockwise very SLOWLY until you hear one click. The freezer coil will be in the defrost mode for 18-22 minutes and then the refrigerator should return to the cooling mode. Make sure the condenser is clean and free of dust and dirt. Condenser is where the heat is removed from the refrigeration system and on most models it is located in back behind a removable panel. Reinstall the panel after cleaning the condenser.
