SOURCE: are replacement motors available for these fans?

mcdevito75 here, If the fan is not too old I would figure yes, but a replacement motor will cost as a new fan, if not more, then you have to install and the blades are a presss fit to the motor.

I have an old circular floor fan, that hums and wont come on, then suddenly it comes on?

You need to clean it and oil the bushings. When this doesn't solve the problem, change the start capacitor. If it continues to hum or make noise, replace the bushings. A repair technician may be helpful.

Yes. These fans have thermal protection in the motor, as well. The thermal fuse or thermal breaker may be bad.

HV-180 fanFan has dust on enclosed blades and on cover. Would like to clean. How?

The blade cage has locks and screws that you can remove from the back. once the cage has been removed, you can remove the blade attached to the motor using a vacuum cleaner or you can remove the blades by undoing the screw on the center detaching it from the motor.

Need help troublshooting floor fan problem

This problem is caused by worn brushes, these are probably not replacable. You could replace the motor but you will have more money tied up in that then replacing the fan.
