This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

If you've followed all stpes to take a good photo and all you get is a blurred image, you can't really do anything else. Your Olympus Digital Camera is quite complex device and I don't believe it you can repair it yoursef. Look for an authorized repair store, ask for a diagnosis and decide if it can be or is worth to be repaired. You can buy a used one in perfect conditons for about 39 USD

My cannon power shot sd780 lens cover does not open when turned on. Just a black screen. The barrel does extend. Is there something I can do to fix it?

Its not easy to dismantle this kind of gadget, a broken gear inside or some mechanical parts of the lens assembly caused lens not to open or a motor controller itself, so better to find a cannon service center ear you.

Cannon A70 lens stuck in middle causing it to keep powering off

The E18 error is fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension.

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for about 50% of lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty they're worth a try:

First make sure that your lens is clean. Turn the camera on and look for fingerprints on the lens. If so, clean the lens with soft tissue. But if the lens is clean, then this sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is an indication of a lens problem. It is quit possible that the camera received a knock or drop at some time. This would throw the lens out of alignment. A qualified technician can sometimes repair the lens. If not you are in for a quite expensive repair bill because the lens will have to be replaced and the camera reprogrammed.
