Section 1: Checking the print quality and cleaning the print head

  1. Print a Print Quality Check Sheet.

    1. Press Menu.
    2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key or the dial pad to choose Ink Management and press OK.

    (A) One or more complete blocks of colors are missing:

Black line down center of printed page

If the line is on the back, you need to have the machine cleaned, absorbers replaced and a mylar sheet installed so that doesn't happen again. Ink thats supposed to go to the absorber is coming back up on the rollers.

Mp530 model I have a heavy black ink line appearing down the center, on the back side of each sheet of printed paper

Thats because the ink is overflowing the ink absorber and coming up thru the bottom of the machine. You need a shop to replace the absorbers and install a mylar shield so that doesn't happen again.

Black line

Is the paper you are using a bond paper and a little heavy. The line is most likely comming from the fusing ass'y. Are you running it LTR size? Try runing it LTR-R size. It will not put as much fores on the fuser and it will run a little slower. Also try the by-pass. Or try to run some Blank White pages though it to clean the fusing ass'y. You also may need to rebiuld or replace the fusing ass'y.
