Hi. I had the same problem and to fix it you need to take printers right-side cover off. Underneath you'll find a Power Supply Board - hidden under metal cover. Take it out and disconnect two cables from it. Now, I had to replace an fuse 125V 4A and varistor E241AD 83P on the Power Supply Board in mine HL-2140. It works fine now.

Note: I could not find the exact replacements in electronic store so I used:

- fuse: 250V 4A

- varistor: FNR 10K241 (241 is the important number)

Hope it helps.

I have the same board MPW 3001 110V version for MFC-7340 printer.
I did not connected to 220V. Because pribter was 110V version.
Now I wish to change it to 220V version.
Is it enought to change only the fuse 125V 4A to 220V 4A?

Are you pressing the big button on the front that looks exactly like an on/off switch? because the real on/off button is small and black, and on the side panel by the back.

How to use it if we have 220V outlet?

If the AC unit is 110V then you must plug it into a regular 110V outlet. You cannot plug it into the 220V outlet. Either get a bigger 220V unit or use a 12 gauge extension cord to get it to a 110V outlet.

I plugged it into 220V outlet and Brother HL 2140 only accepted 110-120V. Is there a fuse somewhere I can access and replace? THank you.

Plugged 4w 120v trimmer into 220v outlet with a 50-2000w 220-110v coverter - it blew fuse and doesn't work. soldering melted off wire inside

scrap the trimmer...
probablly damaged beyond cost of new one

a step down transformer would have been a better choice than a voltage converter ( not trying to be a wise guy here)..

110v - 220v power short problem

No major worries. Only "Fuse" would have gone. You can get this replaced with some good electronic repair shops. Might charge you around Rs. 100 (else Rs. 500 since it is a "US return" item :) )

Plugged into 220V outlet by mistake! Help!

I don't know for sure, but I suspect that if you open it up, there should be a fuse near the power supply portion of the unit. It may have taken the hit for you and can perhaps be replaced easily. (As a disclaimer... be sure the unit is not plugged in when you open the case! And only replace the fuse with another of equal rating.) If it's not a fuse, then you probably smoked the primary winding of the transformer. If it got past that, you may have popped the rectifier and/or capacitor(s) in the power supply.
