Right cartridge incorrect" and "Left cartridge incorrect

I ordered, received and installed new printer catridges from DELL on-line, for my AIO962 printer. I still get the error messages,

"Right cartridge incorrect" and "Left cartridge incorrect"?

    Have used printer for couple of years replacing with proper color cartridge. Use is sporadic. Last week received no output when attempting to copy. Changed preference to black only, receive output in black. Installed new color cartridge still receive right cartridge incorrect error. Uninstalled program and reinstalled. Tried alignment, cleanned nozzels. Alignment unable to complete. printing out currently in black only.

    I have exactly the same problem.. Replace right then left cartridge even though new cartridges are in the printer. Now the eink is worth more than the printer. Haw do I make it accep teh new ink. THe balck ink is real Dell through the mail, the color is from Office Max, neither work.

    The solution says, "you could cycle them through to reset the printers memory, and reset the ink level to full." HOW exactly is this accomplished? How does one "resent the ink level to full??" Please detail the solution, as I think many of us would like to try it. Thanks.

    my printer dosent want to turn on its lexmark7350 and when i turn it on it makes a wierd noise and it dosent work at all it dosent scan or print ect. and it says right cartrige incoorect and i reprogramed the printer but it didnt work and i have no idea how to fix it

    My 962 Dell printer done the same thing with the right cartridge error then it shut off by itself and wont turn back on> there are little black boxes across the screen .

    Received and installed the cartridge on 3/19/14 and we've already
    received an error that says Replace defective cartridge, twice.

Many newer HP Printers internally keep track of your cartridges by a serial number embedded into the cartridge. When it's low, the printer remembers. This is entirely done within the printer itself, and not the printer software. Some printers EXPIRE the cartridges after 18 months according to the installation date even it is not empty.

Outrageous, but true.

A fix? Most HP printers will only keep 2 cartridges in memory, so if you have 2 extra cartridges, (even empty ones) you could cycle them through to reset the printers memory, and reset the ink level to full. Basically, even though you've refilled your cartridge, the printers has the cartridge's serial number stored in memory. This will reset it.

I have a lexmark printer model 5495,it tells me that the right cartridge is incorrect, i just put in new cartridges in . the cartridges 28-black/29-color, it still tell me the samething


Hi, The Right Cartridge Incorrect error message generally indicates a communication error between the All-In-One and the cartridge. This can be due to a faulty cartridge or to a simple interruption in the communication between the cartridge and the All-In-One. The procedures below will help you identify the cause and resolve the issue.Lexmark uses, at least they used to, a chip in the ink catridges that verifies that the ink catridge is Lexmark and hasn't been refilled. There are ways around it, which is why third party cartridges work. Yours may not have been reset or damaged when refilled. Follow the below steps: 1) Disconnect the power from the printer.

2) Remove the black power brick/block from the rear of the machine. (It may be a little tough to pull it out the first time you remove it.

3) Open the top of the printer/multi-function unit.

4) Gently pull the ribbon in order to center the printer cartridge carrier.

5) Open either the left or right side and remove the cartridge. (Depends on which side the error is occurring on, black on the left, color on the right)

6) Verify that all of the plastic strip that covered the new contacts on the cartridge have in fact been removed.

7) Wipe both the cartridge and printer contacts with a dry, lint free cloth.

8) Wipe the bottom of the cartridge with a damp, lint free cloth in order to verify that the ink is flowing and looks correct.

9) Make sure there is no water remaining on the cartridge.

10) Re-insert the cartridge into the carrier and make sure that it is bottomed and inserted all the way to the rear of the carrier slot.

11) Re-insert the power brick/block.

12) Re-connect the printer power cable.

13) Power on the printer and the error should be resolved.

14) Run the print alignment and print or copy several pages to insure the problem has been resolved.


IF YOU NEED TO BE WITH THE ORIGINAL CATRIDGES PLASE FOLLOW THE BELOW STEPS.

ALWAYS PREFER LEXMARK CATRIDGES FOR LONG LIFE OF PRINTER

  1. Remove the indicated print cartridge.

  2. Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet.

  3. Reconnect the power cord to the electrical outlet.

  4. If the button_power_0.jpg button is not lit, press button_power_0.jpg.

  5. Reinsert the print cartridge.

  6. If the error:

    • Does not reappear, the problem has been corrected.

    • Reappears, replace the print cartridge with a new one.

How do I install the printer cartrige? I do not have the booklet...


  1. Turn on your printer.

  2. Open the front cover.

The ink cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position unless the printer is busy.

  1. Press the tabs on the cartridge lids, then lift the lids.

  1. Remove the old ink cartridges.

  1. Store the cartridges in an air-tight container or dispose of them properly.

  2. If you are installing new ink cartridges, remove the sticker and transparent tape from the back and bottom of each ink cartridge.


NOTE: You can use your printer with one cartridge (color or black) at a time. To extend the life of your color cartridge and improve printing speed, install both a color cartridge and a black cartridge at the same time.
  1. Insert the new ink cartridges. Make sure the color ink cartridge is secure in the left ink cartridge carrier and the black ink cartridge is secure in the right ink cartridge carrier.

  1. Snap each lid closed.

  1. Close the front cover. The front cover must be closed to start a print job.

  1. Open the Dell Printer Solution Center by clicking Start® Programs or All Programs® Dell Printers® Dell Photo Printer 720® Dell Printer Solution Center.

  2. Click the Maintenance tab.

  3. Click Install a new print cartridge.

  4. Click Next.

  5. Select the type of cartridge you installed.

NOTE: Specify whether the cartridge is a new cartridge or an old cartridge (one that has been used before). If an old cartridge is incorrectly identified as New Cartridge in the Dell Printer Solution Center, ink levels may be incorrect.

My dell 924 printer shows right cartridge incorrect and I just had both cartridges refilled what is wrong?


I purchased remanufactured ink cartridges through amazon.com. I got 4 for the price of 1 through Dell. After installing the first cartridge, it printed for a few days and then I got the same message "left cartridge incorrect". Unfortunately, I did not read the piece of paper that came with my cartridge that says "STOP" read this before you install the cartridge.
I had to throw out the cartridge that I had just installed and put in a new one and follow these steps:
1. If you recieve a pop-up message indicating that the cartridge has been depleted or a low ink level warning, please disregard.
2. Check "Don't display this dialog again" and click "ok" or "continue printing" if necessary.
3. In the printer status window, since you have already ordered ink, do not click the "order ink online" button. If you have the option, check "I have ordered my ink, please don't remind me again." If not, close the window and continue printing.

I'm not sure why, but these instructions were vital to getting my remanufactured cartridges to work.

I am posting this reply to hopefully help out the next person that has this problem. Unfortunately, I lost a perfectly good ink cartridge because I failed to read the instructions the first time. But the next one worked just fine when I followed the instructions. Good luck!

pls re-installer your software of your printer uninstall the first installation then in install it again or simply re install your operation system maybe has a problem due to corrupted os mostly like has a virus.

hello there :

this error refers to the black ink cart not being detected . 

possible the new cart has a some fault on it ., u can confirm it by checkin for any defetc , leak on the cart itself or test the printer with another black cart , (if u hav one ).

*if the old black cart is still detected by the printer though the ink is low ...then jus call dell tech support ., with the order # for ur purchase and the cart replaced .

each dell cart u buy has 2 yrs warranty on them .so use them

My Dell 946 All in One displays 'Right Cartridge Incorrect'


Install old cartriage, if you still have it, let the machine tell you that it is empty, then go through the install process with one of the new ones.

the catridge changed does not meet the specification required,make sure you use the original catridge not adultrated one the printer will reject it
