Question about Microwave Ovens
The keypad doesn't respond
Well if you find out that your microwave keypad is not working, like those numbers or letters are not working, there's a 16 or 8 plug cords wire attach to the keypad and the motherboard.you need to clean that with normal water temperture.than dry it for about 10-20 minutes.
I garintie you it will work.

A lot of times this is due to humidity/dirt/cocoroaches pu between the contacts, if you wipe your microwave surface with an spray atomizer earlier this is for sure the problem: humidity. Always avoid humidity in the keypad, wipe it with a barely soaked towell and never ever use a spray bottle. Long fix involves do nothing: Leave the microwave alone and unplug for few days, if it can receive some sun light better. YaFix involves courage: Peel (with a x-acto nkife) very slowly the keypad from one of this angles (I ussualy start from the bottom), peel very slowly and see if you are not about to broke any plastic sheets (are several inside), if you SEE humidity between those sheets whipe it inmediatly, go until almost all the keypad goes off, warning, in some point a piece of plastic sheet with black stripes may appear, be very gentle there, this are the contacts to the electronic part of the keypad, do not peel this part. Wipe humidity, reasemble. If you want to make this a little better get help warming the area with a hair dryer, the adhesive becomes more soft and also is very most easy to put back in place.

The first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a minute, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.
If that doesn't work, then please reply back with your brand and model number so we can help you.
We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.
You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.
There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.
If you would like to have us do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.
At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.
Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your model number) for more information & help.
We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Repaired the unresponsive keypad on my older Kenmore (model 721.68100): Unplug. Remove integral cover for top and sides which is held in place by 5 metal screws. The cover then slides toward the rear. Unplug two connectors to back of keypad and clean them (I used contact spray cleaner). Some of the components retain a charge even when unplugged.
