Question about Iomega 500GB eGo Helium Portable 500 GB USB 20 Hard Drive

1 Answer

I have an iomega ego helium 500GB portable HDD, file system is NTFS and is powered by the computer. I've had it for less than a year and now it doesn't seem to be recognised by the laptop. When connected, it powers up, bleeps a few times and then thats it. Here's a list of all the things I've tried but to no avail: -tried connecting to all the USB ports -tried locating it in my computer, device manger and disk management -connected it to all the USB ports on three different laptops -rolled back the system backup and even tried testdisk. If anyone has had a similar problem and solved it PLEASE HELP!!! or anyone with any suggestions on how I Can recover the data from the HDD. Really desperate right now so am open to all possibilities, don't really care much about the hardware just want the data. Thanx.

EGo portable hard drive works with desktop with one internal hard drive installed, however if desktop has two hard drives eGo will not work

right click on my computer and choose manage.
computer management will appear.
go down to disk management
if you see your ego drive listed there
right click on it and choose change drive letter and paths
choose a drive letter that isn't in use like F or G.
you should now be able to browse or view the ego drive in my computer. or by going to run and type the drive letter you choose.

I have the eGo helium portable hard drive (compact edition, usb 2.0 500gb) i'm using it on my HP laptop...how do i get it to just backup my itunes music, videos and tv shows---do you not just drag it and...

you can cut and paste or just copy the media to the external hard drive. and copy it back if the data is ever lost from your computer, also you can have iTunes use the external hard drive to get media from. So you can free up valuable space on your pc's hard drive by just cut and pasting the iTunes folder to it.
