Question about Onkyo Audio Players & Recorders

2 Answers

My onkyo, after about 20 to 30 minutes of use, starts to send a high pitched "clink", like two pieces of metal being tapped against each other, and continues until i change from one listening mode to another, but begins again in another 20 minutes. What's up?

I've had issues with Onkyo electronics that I've bought. Unfortunately, sometimes their quality control is not up to par of other manufacturers that are more widely distributed.

I'm generally satisfied with their quality, but for instance, my CD player had a cracked board and the display would malfunction, and ultimately the player stopped playing and had to be replaced with another brand (this is from 1986 or so).

I wouldn't be surprised if the circuit board has a crack in it, or an integrated circuit is starting to malfunction that controls the amplification.

I like the quality of sound from Onkyo, but I would beware about the quality control.

They sound great when working correctly, but I think they don't have as much experience as other brands that I've purchased.

Did you just get the receiver? If you just got it and like the features, I would exchange it for another and hope for the best.

Good luck on this repair or exchange to rectify the sound problem.

NOISEY START BUT IT HAS STARTED CAR RUNS WITH OUT ANY NOISE

It depends what you mean by noisy start. If it is a high-pitched squeal when you start (or accelerate quickly) it may be the alternator belt that is worn and needs replacing. The squeal of a worn alternator belt usually wears off after a few seconds because the belt has 'warmed'.

If it's a 'tapping' or 'clicking' noise there are 2 possible culprits: Big end bearings (on the crankshaft) or camshaft. If the big end bearings are worn or the camshaft 'buckets' (followers .. those things that cause the inlet and exhaust valves to open) they rattle - metal against metal. After starting the car oil finds its way between the worn metal and silences the noise.

A 'grinding' noise may be caused by the starter motor/ring gear.

LG fridge making loud noise

Bonjour,

jeepers are we talking about a wheeze, a clunk, a whirr, a buzz, a rattle, a hum, random modulated or cyclic, low or high frequency, persistent or intermittent? Or could you just be hearing fan noise.
If it sounds like tin pieces clinking against something metallic. The fan blades may be striking ice or frost or the shroud.
Could be a bad or worn fan motor bearing, or a defrost problem causing frost build up.
Just a FYI
Some LG models have been reported online as having many many operating issues.

Hope this helps

My dryer is making a high pitch squeeling noise like metal on metal and it starts jumping around hard. please help

You need the rear drum bearing replaced, and while tearing down to replace the rear bearing the front bearing surface should be inspected (Its actually a plastic piece with teflon glide bars attached that the front of the drum rides on)..

Metal on metal sounding clicking noise while the wheels are turning but only on the frot driver and passenger wheels. What is going on? It started out only on the passenger side and then after the tire...

Is the noise a screeching high pitch or a growling low pitch?
It sounds to me that the CV joints might be bad and you need brakes.
high pitch would be the brake warning tabs
the low pitch would be the brake pads are gone and you are on the rotors gringing away metal

When i turn the key forward the engine wants to start but doesnt just makes the roaring noise and doesnt start

It could be the starter, is it high pitch screeching, metal against metal, sound? Or more of whine? If it's metal against metal, the teeth on the flywheel ring gear might be damaged. If it's a high whine you are probably hearing the electric motor part of the stater and the "starter drive" is bad. The stater drive is part of the starter, it's the gear that engages with the flywheel gear. It is a one way clutch, it is supposed to hold when the starter is turning the engine. But, freewheel when the engine starts so it doesn't over rev the starter motor. When the drive goes bad it freewheels both ways. If you think the flywheel teeth are damaged you could try turning the engine by hand a little, WITH THE KEY OFF! Sometimes you can put a wrench on the alternator pulley nut and turn the engine a little. This will move the damaged teeth away from the starter and it might work now. Good luck.

High pitch squeal-metal on metal contact

A lot of dryers have plastic or felt slides on the drum. This is to reduce friction as it rotates. They are probably worn off.

Maytag Epic Washer high spin shaking, AND high-pitched sound coming out of washer

When someone reports severe vibration during spin on a brand new washer, the first question always has to be whether the transit brackets have been left in.

Washers are designed so that the drum and motor float on a collection of springs and shock absorbers. To prevent damage to these during shipping, a set of brackets is used to bolt the floating assembly to the case. If these aren't removed before first use (the manual will say how to do it) havoc ensues.

The irritating whine is a new one on me.
