I have a IBM net vista and the power button does not work

That IBM Netvista should have a model number on the back.

This tells me if the computer is so old it uses an AT power supply, or an ATX power supply; as modern computers do.

The old AT form factor of Power Supply, used the above type of main power cables.

The Power On switch was usually connected to the Power Supply.
A separate cable went from the front of the computer, connected to a Power On button, to the Power On switch on the Power Supply.

Or a separate Power On switch was mounted to the Power Supply, and a metal rod pushed against it.
The metal rod pushed by a plastic Power On button, in the front of the computer.

The ATX form factor design uses a Soft Power On circuit.

When a Power Supply is plugged into power, there is a constant 5 Volts present.
The 5 Volt Standby Power.

The ATX power on switch is a Momentary Contact Switch.
Pressing it closes the Soft Power On circuit -> Temporarily.

The 5 Volt Standby power is re-routed, and 'excites' the Power Supply, which turns it on.

THIS type of ATX power on switch is common.
It is inside the plastic Power On button assembly,

Pin connection front panel power switch

The only place to get it is from IBM, as it was designed specifically for them to go in their ThinkCentre A50 line of computers.

The link for the User's Guide, which is what I presume you need, is:

If, instead, you want the Hardware Maintenance Manual, it can be found at:

Finally, if all you desire is the Quick Reference, go to this link:

Now, just to be complete, though I doubt this would do anything to help you, here is the Setup Poster:

check your power cable if it works properly. Try to connect it to another switch. Tighten the connector to your computer.

IBM Think Centre M52- doesn't power on

Here is a checklist. Don't just visually inspect, take your hand and press them in.
Make sure that all power connections are seated.
Make sure that all cables are seated.
Make sure you didn't accidentally flip the switch on the back of the power supply. It happens sometimes, I have even done it myself. (not all power supplies have this switch).

If none of that helps. Post back exactly what it is doing.
Does it beep at all?
Do you get anything on the screen?
Can you hear the devices like CD-rom and hard drive spinning?
