Error 49.38.07

Power off the printer for a minute. Power it on. Do you get the 49 error, does the printer READY? If it comes READY wait a few minutes. No 49 error? start printing, anything. 49 come back? clear the print queue after powering off the printer. Power back on. Do what you did above. No 49 error, it was probably a bad print job in the queue. If it comes back again, you will have to go to and answer the questions until you get to the FIRMWARE UPGRADE. Read it carefully and do it.
It's also possible there is a bad network, bad memory or bad formatter.

How To Fix The HP Printer Error 49?

The HP printer 49 error is a result of an internal communication issue where the firm has led to a critical error and the formatter processor has simply aborted its operation. The error also has letters defined as XXXX which refers to the issue of this fault. HP records these messages so that if they have started recognizing a high level of error with the same fault address they can easily focus on making various changes with the firmware or other such parts to help prevent the error from executing on repeated basis. According to HP technical support experts, it is said that the error 49 error is a serious cause of a bad printing command, corrupted data, various invalid operations, firmware, formatter, or even it is possible due to EIO card or memory accessories.

Steps to fix the HP Printer error 49

Step1: Power-Off Phase

·Power off the device and then carefully disconnect all the communication cables; Network, USB, or Parallel cable.
·Wait at-least for 30 seconds and then turn the device back on. If the error still exists then it is a possible device error. If the error does not go away then it is a symbol of Communication Between the Computer and Network Step2: Managing the printer
·Unplug the printer and then carefully remove all the accessories such as EIO cards, memory, extra trays, duplexer (if removable), and envelope feeder.
·If the error does not exists after you have powered on the printer, start reinstalling the parts one at a time, by powering off before you go ahead with the installation phase of each part till you find the error cause. Next, the firmware needs to be updated to fix this type of issue. Step3: Further method
·If the 49 error is present in the printer after removing possible causes then try a cold reset or NVRAM initialization method first. A cold reset process will further reset every minor stored memory settings such as control panel settings or internal and external jet direct settings. NVRAM is more elusive as well as clears out all the internal memory such as error logs and other possible counters.
·If this 49 error continues to exists, it is advised by HP tech support experts to replace the firmware DIMM, if there is one.

Hp 4700 49.3066 service error

49.xx errors are mostly caused by invalid print commands, corrupt
data, or invalid operations. Basically the printer "does not understand" the print job.

- restart the printer to clear the print job from the printer's memory.

-if the error returns disconnect the network/USB cables from the unit and cycle power again.
If the error comes back without the network/USB connected perform a cold reset on the device and go the next step.
- Once the unit is at Ready reconnect the network/USB cable.

If the unit gets the 49.xx error or begins to print a job then gets the error disconnect the cables again and power cycle the printer. This time when you plug the network/USB cable in watch the control panel for any signs of the unit receiving a print job. When the printer says "Processing" press the cancel button on the printer. This should clear the "bad" print job.

I strongly recommend updating to the latest driver for the device Drivers Software . If you had an issue with a PDF file use the Post Script (PS) driver.

Good Luck

Error 49 Cycle Power FFF

49 errors are possibly one of the most difficult to diagnose.

49 Indicates that a firmware error occurred that caused the processor on the formatter to abort an operation.
This type of error can be caused by invalid print commands, corrupt data, or invalid operations. In some cases, electrical noise in the cable can corrupt data during transmission to the printer.
Other causes include poor quality parallel cables, poor connections, or home-grown applications.
On some occasions, the formatter is at fault, but this is usually
indicated by a 79 Service Error.

I see you state a 49FFF? any other letters or digits displayed?
Specifically 49 FFFF can be a problem if the ribbon cable from the DC controller to the interconnector board is not connected. The control panel display will also be dark.

Other 49 FFx errors can be:

NEC firmware chip error - replace the Firmware
Unsupported EDO Memory installed - Remove unsupported RAM
Fuser life test error during Boot cycle - Replace the Formatter
A Large print Job (>800 pages) or complex graphics can cause the device to quit printing. - Simplify the Print Job, lower DPI etc.,

Good luck

Error 49.4401

Hi I only know that error 49.
But you can try this it may help
A 49 error is a firmware error, it might be caused by the firmware itself, or by the failure of a printer module.

How to isolate the cause:

- Verify that the problem is not being caused by a specific job, this error can be caused by bad information being sent to the printer.
- Power off and remove any installed EIO devices, (JetDirect Cards, Hard Drives), power on and test.

Cold Reset the printer:

- Power off, remove any optional memory, power on and retest.
- Power off and reseat any memory and firmware modules on the formatter board, power on and test.
- Power off, reseat the formatter board, power on and test.

Check firmware version: on newer machines with flashable firmware upgrade to the latest version. If you are running the latest version reload it, this might fix corrupted firmware. (Some printers have flashable firmware, others use a Firmware DIMM which must be replaced to upgrade.)

If you haven't found the cause yet it's time to start swapping parts:

- Firmware module if it's a DIMM as opposed to being part of the formatter.
- Memory if installed, some printers have to have at least one memory module installed to run, and it must have enough capacity to function, in some cases installing a module that does not meet the minimum requirements of the machine will cause a 49 error

Low memory. won't send or receive fax. 49 error message.

This is a problem with the formatter board, try doing an nv ram ( turn off the printer and hold down the right arrow and the cancel button, turn the printer back on and continue holding until you see permanent storage init). If this doesn't work call hp tech support 1800 334 5144 and ask for a case number. This printer has a service note which will cover the formatter for 2 years. Al
