It is advised to go to the Brother web site and download the http://www.brother.com/E-ftp/windowsvista/asia.html brother original drivers. Once you follow the instructions on the drivers you can then install new complete driver which allows you to choose various files.
Hope this helps as I had the same problem

Please open the Brother Control Centre software, go in to the configuration and then to scan and then the scan option you are choosing (email, file etc) there will be a file type option here and one of the options will be PDF.

I can't figure out how to scan from the printer and send to the computer to work on document

First, make sure all of the drivers for your printer were downloaded from the CD that came with your printer and make sure your printer is connected to your computer and turned on..

Second, if you are using a Windows PC, Click on:
Start > All programs > Accessories > Paint

Third: When the Paint program opens, in the top toolbar click on, File > From Scanner or Camera > then select your printer by clicking on your printer's icon > then click, OK.

Fourth: Place the document you wish to scan on the glass of the scanner and click on: Scan.

The document will be scanned and automatically sent to the Paint program.

Fifth: Click, File > Save as > (name the document) and save it in your Pictures folder.

You can now close the Paint program and open your Pictures folder. Click on the document you scanned to view it.

With windows7 i cannot scan to pdf which is one of the reasons to actually have this printer! Any program or else that can help

You can initiate a scan to the Paint program if you use a Windows Operating System on your computer. From Paint, you can import the scan to your PDF program.

Follow these instructions:

1) Place the document you want to scan on your scanner.
.
2) Go to: Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint.
.
3) When the Paint program opens, (on the top menu bar) click, 'File' (scroll down) and select: 'From Scanner or Camera'.
.
4) Select your device : (Click on your scanner icon) and click, OK.
.
5) Continue to follow the prompts to choose the kind of scan you want - and scan your document.
.
6) After being scanned, your document will display in the Paint program.
.
7) (Again, in the upper toolbar) click, 'File' > scroll down and choose, 'Save As' > (name your document) > Select a location folder to save it in and click, 'Save'.
.
Now, when you go to your PDF program you can click on, 'File' and import the document to your PDF workspace.

I cant seem to find a scan option on my epson

Once all of the drivers are downloaded and the printer is connected to your computer, you can initiate a scan of a document two ways.

First, you can select Copy on the printer and it will copy the document placed on the scanner.

Second, you can scan a document to your computer by going to: Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint.

When the Paint program opens, (in the upper toolbar) click: 'File' and scroll to 'From Scanner or Camera'. Then, select your device (Epson scanner) and click, 'OK'.

Continue with the prompts and your scan will be imported into the Paint Program. To save your scan, Click, File > Save As > (name your document) and select a folder for your scan to be sent to.

If you found this information helpful, please give me a big thumbs up when you rate my answer. Thanks.

I seem to have a problem scanning on the KM C351. When scanning a multiple page document I recieve 1 .pdf file per page. This happens whether or not Seperate Scan is selected. Right now the scan are sent...

the file type is set to single page
1.press the scan button on the control panel
2.select scan setting.
3.select file type.
4.select multi page to have the entire scan to be sent as a single file.
if you are sending jpegs they can only be sent as single page files on this machine. only pdf's and tiffs can be sent as multi page files

I scanned a 17 page document to pdf and got a 15mg file which I could not sent by e-mail. Checking some other pdf files, I see a 47 page document that is only 5kb. What's the deal? BwO

Resolution you scanned it at as well as scanning in color versus black and white. Also, that 47 page document might be vector graphics and text rather than bitmap information.
Scan in 200dpi black and white to get a usable (readable) and small file. Should be about 100-200kbytes per page.

After scanning will not bring up on ms office word

Most ikely your scanned document is a GIF, JPG, BMP or even PDF document and not a word document, as for scanning it into word requires special software (OCR software). Try this:
right click on your scanned document and select properties. It should tell you which file type it concerns, which is probably one the options i gave above. If it is an image. try opening the document with a picture viewingprogram such as paint, microsoft pictureviewer or any other picture viewing software. If it is adobe document, you should open it with adobe reader (free availav\ble on the web).
