Steps to downgrade windows 7 to xp

STEP 1. Open your Windows 7 drive (generally C drive) and make sure that you haven't removed the Windows.old folder, which was created by Windows while installing Windows 7 on XP drive. Remember, without this folder you won't be able to proceed further.

STEP 2. Now, check the size of Windows.old folder by right-clicking and then selecting properties. You need to make sure that Windows.old folder must be less than two times the amount of free hard drive space available on Windows 7 system drive (C drive). If the Windows.old folder size is two times larger, disable system restore utility and also use disk cleanup tool to get some free space.

STEP 3. Insert your Windows 7 installation disk into DVD-ROM and restart your system. Press any key when prompted to boot from DVD.

STEP 4. Choose your language, time, keyboard type and then click on Next button to continue.

STEP 5. In the Install Windows screen, click Repair your computer option to get System Recovery Options.

STEP 6. Now select your Windows 7 OS and note down your Windows 7 Drive letter before clicking on Next.

STEP 7. In the next window, click Command Prompt to start downgrading from Windows 7 to Windows XP.

STEP 8. At first you need to transfer all the data of your Windows 7 drive to a folder. So type the following commands one by one and then press enter after each command (here we're assuming that "D" is your Windows 7 drive letter).

D:

Md Win7

Move Windows Win7\Windows

Move "Program Files" "Win7\Program Files"

Move Users Win7\Users

Attrib -h -s -r ProgramData

Move ProgramData Win7\ProgramData

Rd "Documents and Settings"

STEP 9. Next, you need to copy all the contents of Windows.old folder to the drive. Again, follow all the commands given below one by one and then press enter after each command.

move /y d:\Windows.old\Windows d:\

move /y "d:\Windows.old\Program Files" d:\

move /y "d:\Windows.old\Documents and Settings" d:\

STEP 10. Next, you need to restore the boot sector by typing the following command:

E:\boot\bootsect /nt52 d:

STEP 11. At last restore the boot.ini file by entering the following commands:

Attrib -h -s -r boot.ini.saved

Copy boot.ini.saved boot.ini

STEP 12. Now type Exit and restart your system to get back to Windows XP again.

YES BUT FIRST YOU HAVE TO WIPE THE HARD DRIVE. YOU CANNOT "DOWNGRADE" FROM 7 TO XP...ONLY UPGRADE.

BACK UP ALL DATA FIRST

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

What is service 3?

if your question refers to service pack 3 it is that lastest upgrades to the original operating system
for example win xp came out as win xp
later on in it's life a service pack 1 then 2 and finally a service pack 3 was issued where by all the updates were in a pack so that if you had win xp disc and installed it , then you could install service pack 3 and the operating system was up to date
xp is now no longer supported by microsoft and is rapidly falling out of service
win 7 is now up to service pack 1 ( last time I looked ) but with the large amounts of installing up dates , it may be around pack 2
.with the release of win 10 , win 7 will be no longer supported after a period of time

It sounds to me like you requre Win'XP Service Pack 3.
If you are using Service Pack 2 or earlier, there is no
SATA support which is why the HDD is not recognized.

Get Service Pack 3 and your problems will be solved.

Good Luck

Hi.

To install a different language - Multilingual User Interface (MUI) - you need to have Windows 7 Ultimate.

Anytime Upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate
Type Anytime Upgrade in the Search programs and files box in the Start menu and click on the Windows Anytime Upgrade icon. From there, you can buy an Anytime Upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate. Then your can enter your Anytime Upgrade product key and perform a simple upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate so you can install a different language.

If you are in Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK, and the US you can use Anytime Upgrade. If not you will need to buy Windows 7 Ultimate, or buy Windows 7 in the language you need.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/windows-anytime-upgrade

Install Language Pack in Windows 7 Ultimate

1. Start -> All Programs --> Windows Update --> Optional Updates.
2. Open optional Updates and go to the section Windows 7 Language Packs.
3. Tick the Language Pack you want and hit OK
4. Proceed with Install Updates
5. Depiction of Windows 7 downloading a Language Pack
6. Automatic install initiated after download

How to change the Windows 7 Display Language:

1. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Clock, Language, and Region / Change the display language
2. Switch the display language in the Choose a display language dropdown menu.
3. Click OK
4. Log off for the changes to take effect (This will affect only the user profile under which you are currently logged on).

The only other way to get the English language is to use the recovery partition or recovery disk to start over from scratch.

If there is anything else please post back..

Good luck.

I cant install the disk because it says that i need service pack 2

Hi there
Please go here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/downloads/service-packs and choose what Operating system you are using maybe XP, Vista or Win 7 there you will be guided to wher you can download the latest service pack for your PC. The disk that came with Pinnacle was created to be used with only SP 2 or above. That is why it is calling for the SP 2.
You will need patience, these packs are big in file size. Make sure you have a good internet connection and good RAM memory in your PC. Optimise you disks with Mydefrag makes your PC faster too but it takes a long time http://www.mydefrag.com/
All the best now, good luck, it may take a few hours! Phil

Have Windows XP, Home Edition. Cannot install Service Patch 3,

Beethoven 9 is not part of the service pack. Go to microsoft and download the service pack as is. If you don't have a fully registeredwindows program, you will have problems until you register it. I've downloaded all service packs and updates for the past 7 years on different levels of windows without any problems. You must have them registered to prove you have an authentic purchased program, not something copied from someone elses setup disks.
