I DONT KNOW HOW TO RESTORE MY ACER BACK TO FACTORY SETTINGS

The Acer Aspire One is a netbook, not a laptop. A netbook is a smaller, scaled-down version of a laptop. It does not have the memory capacity or graphics of a regular laptop. It also lacks a CD drive, which means you cannot restore the Acer Aspire One with restore discs. Instead, the netbook has a built-in factory restore feature. You can reset the Acer Aspire One to factory settings just using your keyboard. Only restore your netbook to factory settings if you cannot fix the problem any other way.

Save any files or folders on your Acer Aspire One with flash drives. Drag and drop files onto the icon of your flash drive. Go to "Start" > "Restart" to reboot your netbook. Hold down "Alt" and "F10" when you see the Acer logo on the screen. The recovery menu will load. Hit "Enter" and then "Next" to see your recovery options. Choose "Factory Restore" to set your netbook back to factory settings. Follow the instructions on the screen. Choose your time zone and language when the customization menu appears. Reboot the netbook when you are prompted. Restore your saved files from the flash drive.

Clean acer 5742 restore to factory setting

Try my hint on how to restore a laptop to factory settings. http://www1.fixya.com/support/r10606238-restore_computer_factory_default
If your laptop doesn't have a restore partition, you should have received CDs with the computer that will restore the system. If you don't have either, try to find a friend who has the CDs. Acer will charge you a fortune for CDs.

How to do system recovery on aspire one

Hi you should be able to do the following, if not you will need an external CD drive & recovery disk.

    1. Consider what data you still need from your Acer Aspire One's hard drive. Save the files to an external USB device.

    2. Restart the Acer Aspire One's operating system. Wait for the Acer logo to appear on the LCD screen.

    3. Press the "Alt" and "F10" keys at the same time to bring up the recovery menu. Press "Enter."

    4. Click "Next." Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to restore the operating system back to factory settings.

    5. Use the drop-down boxes to select the time zone and language information for your Acer Aspire One. Restart the netbook when you are prompted to finish restoring the computer.

    6. Connect the external USB device to your Acer Aspire One and transfer the data you saved earlier back to the netbook.

    Warning:
It is possible to delete the hard drive partition that has the recovery tool.

If your Acer Aspire One no longer has the recovery partition, you will need
to acquire an external USB DVD drive and then contact Acer for a recovery DVD.
Connect the USB drive to the netbook's USB port and then insert the recovery DVD in the drive.

    Hope this helps.

    Restore factory default settings

In order to refresh a netbook you will have to use a USB key or an external USB DVD ROM to run windows and restore the system. If you still have all of the original software on the laptop you should be able to go to Start>>Control Panel>>Backup and Restore and click Create System Restore Disk. You can then create CDs that can be used to restore your system. You can also copy windows files from a DVD or ISO file to a USB thumbdrive and install windows again from scratch by booting to it. I will be posting a how to on how to do this in detail.

    Good Luck,

How do you reinstall to factory settings on the Acer Aspire One? My daughters computer is acting up and I tried to do a system restore, however it keeps coming back saying it can't.

hello, sorry to that you have problem with your laptop(netbook).
well since this is a netbook it obviously doesn't with CD/DV drive for you to restore.
here is how you restore to factory default (keep in mind you will lose all the data on the netbook and system will be restored to its original factory state).
    1:- turn off your netbook
    2:- unplug power cord
3:- unplug battery and wait for about 10 seconds
4:- plug the battery back in, and plug the power cord back in
5:-press the power switch to turn on the netbook
6:on BIOS screen hold down "ALT" key and continue to hit "F10", that will put you in recovery mode
7:- depending on exact series/model/bios you might see windows come up first BUT in any event look for program called "Empowering Technology" and then "Acer eRecovery Management.
from there you can follow onscreen instructions.

i hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions.

good luck and if this helps please leave a feedback
    thank you
