Remove the back cover (take screws off) .. inside you will see a circular (possibly taped) metal lithium battery, remove it for 30 seconds and then place it back) or better still, if the battery is connected to a connection, unplug the connector for 30 seconds then place it back

Asus f9sg bios password

BIOS passwords can be reset or removed in two ways:

1. using software 2. using hardware.

I would first try resetting or removing using software, here are two software apps to reset or retrieve BIOS passwords.

!BIOS - is a PC BIOS toolkit offering password removal/decrypt and BIOS settings modification/backup/restore.
You can download it here:

You will need to create a bootable Dos, or Linux or NT cd in order to run them.

Good Luck!

I have a Wipro Laptop. His BIOS is Phoenix. It has a CMOS password. How shall I clear the password.\?

Hi Nayanranjani.

As you trying to reset the BIOS password, let me provide the required steps.

You may reset the BIOS password by just removing and inserting the CMOS Battery.

The CMOS Battery will have the Computer date, time and also the BIOS password saved in it.

Hence, removing and re-inserting the CMOS password will reset the BIOS password.

Once the BIOS password is removed, you may assign a new BIOS password.

Hope this helps.

Please feel free to ask further questions.

Reset bios/cmos password

on the bottom of the vostro 1510 there is a large panel that covers the hard drive, wifi card, and cmos battery connector. remove the cover unplug the red and black wire connector and remove the battery. also make sure the system is unplugged from power. i waited about 5 mins and pushed and held the power button for about a min. after that plug the main battery in and test to see if your password has been removed

My brother has turned on his computer after several months to be asked for a password in the 'phoenix awardBIOS CMOS setup utility' screen - he can advance no further because he does not know the password...

Did he have a password before, and just forgot it, or did this just happen on it's own?

There is a small battery inside the laptop which provides the tiny amount of power required to store all of the BIOS/CMOS settings (including the password), even if your laptop is completely disconnected from power.

There's really no way to recover these passwords, so you have to reset the CMOS/BIOS:

1. Disconnect the laptop from all power and batteries.
2. Find and remove the CMOS battery (usually a small button battery) inside the laptop.
3. Leave it alone for a day.
4. Replace the CMOS battery with a new one.

This should reset the BIOS/CMOS back to the factory defaults, with no password. He made need to do a bit of configuring to reset the date, time, etc.

It says you have two choices. The password jumper or the Clear CMOS button. Both require you to open it up.

Instructions on how to open it (and location of the battery) are at:

Both links require adobe to read them and the last one is about 7 Megs so may take a while to download.

Power problem

Hi Odek, You have to short the CMOS reset pins on the motherboard. You can find the location of these 2 or 3 pins on the motherboard manual. For Enisco's problem the monitor power cable is not properly earthed. You can either earthed it by connecting a wire from any conductive part of the monitor to a earth pin on the wall plug or something conductive near the monitor like a will sill. I would probable change the wall plug or the faulty power board. regards

Cmos password lockout

Hi,
if this is a bios password lockout, you can try removing the CMOS Battery, for a couple of minutes to reset to factory default.
or using a password finding utility.
I have a CD that can do this, providing your DVD Drive will boot first.
