Apple ipod black, froze and can't charge (reply to your solution)
I held down the menu and centre button as advised by the apple website, this does not cure the problem. The ipod makes a whirring noise and displays circle and red x. From what I've read online I gather this means that the hard disk is broken.

Try doing this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps!
switch the hold button on and off, then hold horizontally, and push the menu button and center button at the same time. hold them down untill the ipod restarts and the apple logo apears.
If that doesen't work, plug into the newest itunes program, and push restore.
