I have an older whirlpool gas dryer model LGR7646EQ3 and everything works but it won't get hot. Is it most likely the igniter?

theres a thermal fuse located on back panel usually white maybe 2 inches tall 1/2 wide 2 blue wires leading to it. ck for continuity, if none replace that(most common problem)... if good you can go back to the ignitor and unplug the white connector it plugs into. place your meter leads into the connector and turn on dryer, you should get 110v. if you do you have a bad ignitor, if not a thermo's gone bad (check the thermal fuse first though.

SOURCE: Whirlpool nay gas dryer will not ignite flame Model #GGW9200LWO

is it new with a piliot or electric ignitor, if is is piliot you could need a thermocoupling, if it is an electric ignitor you will need to change the ignitor, both are eazy on a dryer you have alot of room to do this, if it is an ignitor do not touch the carbon but take it out and take it to an appliance store that as parts, you must have it with you so that the hold down braket is the same and the plug is the same, if it is a thermocoupling it is just a screw that holds it in place and you can pull it out of the holder you don't have to be so gental, but it must be pushed all the way in the holder till it clicks

This happened to me. Turned out it was a gas valve fracture which had to be replaced by the gas company. That's if you have a gas dryer

I have a whirlpool dryer M460-G (SN#MH4612126 ? LGR7646EQ3). The dryer does not heat up. I checked the back and cleaned all the lint. The gas ignites and heats some time but not all the time and when it is...

Replace your gas valve coils!! They will allow the dryer to heat initially, but fail after about the 3rd or 4th iginition sequence.
Part number 279834 and are around $20.
They are located on top of the valve and held on by a steel bracket with two phillips head screws. Plug and play wires you cant mess up.
Fix it up!!

Igniter won't glow

Hi,
I am assuming that everything works OK except you have no heat?
When you turn on dryer listen for gas valve to click(this may take a few seconds). If you don't have a click then the gas valve my be bad or it is not getting power.

Dryer has to be running to check for power only experienced persons should perform machine running power tests.
Let me know If I can do anything else to help.

Whirlpool dryer LGR7646EQ3. Burner lights before pushing start.

The heat is regulated with a Klixon mounted next to the blower housing near the vent pipe so it can judge the temperature of the air coming out of the drum.Right next to it is a melting type fuse. If the dryer runs and gets too hot the fuse will melt. But the dryer will still run. So if the fuse is good(continuity) and the dryer control(cycle) thermostat is also good then you should have power going to the gas valve assembly when the machine is running unless the timer is in the no heat or wrinkle free/cool down mode. When the gas valve assembly is energized the flame sensor mounted outside the burner chamber detects the heat from the ignitor. When the heat is very intense then the sensor shuts down the ignitor and that frees up the power so that the coils can be fully energised and open the gas gates. The gas comes out and hits the red hot ignitor and you have ignition. It stays on for maybe 2 or 3 minutes or until the control thermostat is satisfied and shuts down power to the gas valve assembly.
