Hello, i am here in desperation, please help me if you can.
I have an 80gig zune, which has been working fine since i
got it new 2months ago. I left it on charge, and then when i came to use it, it
had frozen ( 1st time). I looked the problem up on net, so i followed the
instructions and did a reboot, this gave me an error 5 - contact support'
screen, also frozen. So now i followed the advice given to restore zune device firmware,
basically wipe everything (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927001/), then my
zune was stuck on 'no3 please wait' screen & would not switch off or
respond at all. So I waited until the zune died, then connected to pc to charge
back up, then the error message '5 - contact support' screen came up again, and
again frozen. The zune software on pc works fine so it seems to be the device
at fault. Please help as i have no idea how to get my zune back into operation
and i am missing my music.
Thanks for your time and i am truly grateful for any help.
Best wishes
Brad
Ps, I have contacted zune support & they said its
needs to be returned and is under warranty, but then I am told that as I live
in the United Kingdom it will not be repaired/replaced as I do not have a USA
address or friends or family living there :-(

-   Dropped it from about 3 feet on its face. It was in an Action Jacket case, and that didn't help either. Probably will have to replace HDD.-   Guest

One last ditch effort: Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
And, yeah, as far as the international replacement - that is how all the manufacturers are - they are not willing to pay the cost to keep their customers. Also, they have no process in place for fulfilling such a request, even if they have offices in both countries (which most of them do). Sad, really.
hello i have a 30 gig zune that simply will not respond to any thing completely locked up.the only sign of life is when i plug it in, it will flash the zune lable like a charging symble what do i do?
This is a problem with ALL ZUNE 30's and possibly 80's. Disassembly and disconnection of the battery for about 10 seconds seems to work on the 30. I don't know about the 80.
Alright, this happend to me and it really freaked me out because i dont know what i would do if i had no music. I searched forever trying to find out what to do. After a bit of trial and error, i figured it out. what you need to do is wipe your zune clean. its simple. hold down the down and back button until your zune turns off(some blogs said to hold up and back, but this does not work). after your zune turns off, release the buttons for a few seconds. Than, simply press and hold the back button, and the play/pause button until your zune displays "please wait, memory clearing" with a number 4 on the top left. I am not sure if you have to continue holding(which is what i did and it worked) until the menu screen appears, or if its okay to release once the please wait screen apears. Just continue holding for a minute or two because thats what worked for me. Hope your music comes back to you! we all need it!

It is stuck on this screen on my Zune: "On your C, open th Zune software and restore the Zune device firmware." I've checked every forum and tech site I can find and nothing helps. What do I do?
