Open the Control panel 2. Open the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon. 3. Verify the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" checkbox is checked. If this option is not available or is grayed out, skip to the next section of this document. 4. If you were able to check this box, click ok and close out of this window and the Control Panel. 5. Double-click the sound icon in the Systray and verify that all the sound volumes are mid-way or higher.
Check Windows services. Right Click My Computer and Manage. Choose Services and Application > Services. Choose "Windows Audio" and set to Automatic and Start. Now next you can do is If you open control panel & click device manager the window that opens will show a list of all installed hardware. Look for anything with an exclamation mark beside it, or to do with sound. If you see anything, right click it, check it isn't Disabled then select "Properties." The next window should have some tabs along the top, the one you are looking for is "Driver," you should now see an "Update driver" button. Check ur sound card information by doing this Click on start menu Click on Run Type dxdiag, enter Click on the sound tab There is button of test direct sound click on this check if there is sound Check ur registry. Check if the sound registry key is enabled or disabled. There could be an error in registry, run registry cleaner reg in out to scan for errors.

My volume buttons are not working when I press the volume to go up or down

Anonymous, depending on your setup and laptop, you may be able to press the FN button and hold it while you press the speaker button up or down. If you have a Speaker icon in the lower right screen near the Time you can click on that to change the volume. If that is not available, you can right click that area and select properties. Then, see that the Speaker icon is set to ON to show up on your screen. Hope this helps.

Volume icon missing

Which operating system ??

In Windows and on a Mac, you can use an icon shaped like an audio speaker to adjust the computer's volume or mute the sound output completely.

Whichever operating system you are running, it is possible to remove the volume icon from the screen.

If you have removed the volume icon accidentally, you may not have a convenient way to adjust your computer's sound volume.

Restore the sound icon to resume using it to adjust the volume or mute your computer's sound output.

Click the "System Preferences" icon on the dock.
If you have removed this icon from the dock, click the Apple icon at the top of the screen, then click "System Preferences."

Click the "Sound" icon in the "System Preferences" window.

Place a check in the box at the bottom of the window labeled "Show volume in menu bar."
The sound icon appears at the top of the screen.
Close the window to resume using your computer.

Cannot unable Wifi

There are a couple solutions to this problem that many other people have claimed worked for them, here's a list of the most common solutions;
1. First the wireless button at the top of the keyboard didn't work even though when pushed an icon popped up saying it was "ON". The five bar wireles icon still had an X in it indicating no connection. I used Fn F8 and that didn't work at first either. However, I did FN F8 again and noticed a round icon pops up just below the rectangular F8 icon, and it says wifi on it. Mouse over that and you find it is another on/off button. I clicked on it, and the red x on the wifi icon went away and all worked again.
2 All I did was pull out the battery for 5 minutes and the wifi started working on the next restart.

Dell Inspiron 1100 Laptop with FN Volume issues.

Starbug1S1- This may have been something you have already checked but I will suggest anyways. You said you had control of your sound from other means - Sounds and Audio Devices properties was one- did you notice a check box that reads Place volume icon on the task bar. This may remedy part of your problem if you put a check in the box. Hopefully this helps. Thanks.

Acertravelmate4000 got it used, don,t know how to turn off mute, turn on or up volume

The volume may be muted. In Windows, look at the volume
control (speaker) icon on the taskbar. If it is crossed-out, click on
the icon and deselect the Mute option.
The speakers may be turned off. Press Fn-F8 to turn the speakers
on (this hot key also turns the speakers off).
The volume level may be too low. In Windows, look at the volume
control icon on the taskbar.
Fn-? Volume up Increases the sound volume. Fn-? Volume down Decreases the sound volume.

If this helps u let me know

Activating Ace Aspire 5100 Key Board Volume Control

Not absolutely positive about your model, but on some the volume icons are on the buttons on keyboard along with the keys having something else on them. if thats the case to activate the volume probably requires holding the Fn key + Key with the volume Up/Dwn icon on it.

hope this helps please rate if it does.

No volume

Please double click on the speaker icon present on the taskbar on the right hand side. you will get a master volume window. Now check if all the checkboxes are not ticked. If any one of the checkeboxes are ticked, please untick all the checkboxes and try again by playing a video. Now your problem will be solved.
Thank you.
