SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

The camera takes a while to snap after pressing the snap botton. or it does not snap at all.

Do you have any blinking or flashing symbols in the viewfinder?
A blinking lightning bolt could be telling you of IMPROPER FE LOCK
A blinking DOT may indicate that you are shooting in One-Shot AF mode and focus was not obtained. Try to refocus, press the shutter button half way and allow the image to come into focus.

Also, check you memory card, if it is not inserted properly or has a slight twist, the camera will not shoot. Make sure your card is not full, and check if it has a write protect tab and check that the tab is not loose and sliding enough to make the camera think the card is protected. Lastly - try getting a new memory card, often there are aftermarket cards that have first quality labels that will prevent the camera from functioning correctly.

Please make sure your memory card does not have the "Lock" setting clicked on. It is a small slider at the side of the card. Check this out and try to save again to your card.

When I try to take a picture "Card Locked!" shows on the screen

if you have a memory card in the camera then the card is locked lol...take the card out and with the front facing you on the right side there is a little piece of plastic attached to the card....it will slide up or down and snap into place in either direction...if the camera is sayin it is lock then slide the plastic piece in the other direction and let it click into place and u should be able to save pictures to it

SD memory cards

Has another SD Card worked? is this the first you card you tried?
Be sure you have the correct type (size) SD card, there a couple of SD card types, micro (very small, etc.). It should go in only one way, does it fit and install easily? It should SNAP into placye.
A SD card is supposed to ONLY GO IN ONE WAY, the correct way.
It should SNAP in. Try to insert it in a different way very carfully.
